Show OREM-GENEVA TIMES Thursday, February 17, 1953 CONSTRUCTION FEATURES AND FACILITIES OF SCERA AUDITORIUM ARE FORTRAYED EDITOR'S NOTE: This is another an-other in a series of feature articles ar-ticles treating the development of Scera Theatre contributed by Don Stratton, BYU journalism student. By Don Stratton Shapely curves, acute and obtuse ob-tuse angles of the Scera Auditorium Auditor-ium building nol only depict beauty but also a solidarity that will last for generations. The building was designed by architect archi-tect Fred Markham to fit the contour con-tour of the land upon which it was erected. Prevents Distortion Scera's funnel-shaped auditorium auditor-ium prevents the distortion of sound. Six inch pads of rock wool covered with monks cloth are bolted on the back back wall to further prevent the' reverberation reverbera-tion of sound into the audience. Rock wool insulation adorns the side walls of the theater. These walls contain over a mile of con duit pipe containing 20,000 feet of electrical wiring. Overhead diffusing grilles gril-les installed in the auditorium and lounge eliminate drafts. The well-equipped projection room has been kept up-to-date through the addition of new equipment from time to time. Some of the features which have brought Scera acclaim are the Brenkert "80" projector which eliminates el-iminates shutter flicker and the RCA Magic Screen which dim inishes objectionable glare com mon to some other screens. This community theatre was also the first in the intermountain area to install "black lighting."
