Show 1 OREM-GENEVA TIMES Thursday, February 17, 1995 EAST SHARON STAKE HOLDS CONFERENCE A total of 1087 members of the East Sharon Stake attended the first general session of the quarterly quar-terly conference held Sunday in the Scera Auditorium with Stake President Henry D. Taylor conducting. con-ducting. During the session Elder Bruce R. McOonkie of tjie First Council of Seventy spoke on "Faith." Other speakers of the morning meeting were President Taylor, B. A. Childs, second counselor in the Stake presidency, and Joanne McLaren of the Pleasant View Ward who recently returned from the Texas-Louisiana Mission. In the afternoon Elder McConkie spoke on the nature of the plan of salvation. Other speakers were William C. Faulkner, first counselor coun-selor in the stake presidency; W. O. Whitaker, recently ordained bishop of Jhe Edgemom First Ward; Elva K. Miller, member of tfie general Primary board; Joseph Jos-eph T. Bently, high councilman, and William F. Increased welfare aid, school expansion, and growth in membership were told at the Ninth Quadrennial Business Session of the Pacific Union Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. State, Provo Christian Science Topic for Sunday Stake Dance to be Sponsored by Sharon, Beverly Wards The Kose Proms held by the ' MIA Maids and Explorers of the Orem and Sharon Stakes were both termed 'successful' by Stake officers and others in attendance. The Stakes will combine their dance this Saturday at the Geneva Gen-eva Ward recreation hall. The affair af-fair will get underway at 8:43 p. m. Sponsoring this dance will be two of the Orem Stake 'Wards, Beverly and Sharon. These two wards are completing plans for the floorshow and the refreshments refresh-ments which will be sold, according accord-ing to Mrs. Elzina Parry, Beverly Bev-erly Ward YWMIA president. All members of both stakes are cordially invited to attend. Admission Ad-mission will be by Budget and guest Cards which may be obtained ob-tained from the ward bishop. Hill Crest Ward ' Relief Society To Sponsor Banquet Plans are well underway for a Banquet to be held in the Hill Crest Ward on Friday, February ! 25th at 6 p. m. in the Timpanogos Ward recreation hall. Tuesday in connection with this series the women enjoyed a demonstration on the many uses oi the electric range in preparing food. Mrs. Mary Black, demonstrator demon-strator for the Utah Power and Light, gave the demonstration. Mrs. Black also demonstrated other oth-er electrical equipment. The food assembled and pre pared by Mrs. Black was served to the ladles on tables beautifully decorated in a patriotic theme. Grandview Ward Slates Annual Sweetheart Ball Final, arrangements have been made for the Grand View Ward Sweetheart Ball, to be held Friday Fri-day at 8:30 p. m. in the Grand View School, according to Mrs. Dick Burr, ward YWMIA presi dent. - The theme for the Semi-formal affair will be "Sweetheart," according ac-cording to Mrs. Barbara Sandstrom, Sand-strom, activity counselor. A delightful de-lightful floorshow program has been planned. MIA Maids and Explorers will especially be honored. All ward members are cordially . invited to attend the affair. A special prize honoring the ward having the most Boy Scouts and Bee Hive girls and their leaders lead-ers present according to enrollment enroll-ment will te given at this Saturday's Sat-urday's dance. Joseph Murdock and Hazel Parcell will direct the recreation. Geneva 2nd Ward will be sponsoring spon-soring the affair and have made arrangements for a program and refreshments. Bee Hive Girls , And Boy Scouts to Frolic at Fun Night The next in a series of 'Tun Nights" for the Bee Hive girls and Boy Scouts of the combined Sharon and Orem LDS Stakes will be held Saturday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Geneva Ward recreation recre-ation hall, according to Mrs. Wil-ford Wil-ford Oveson, Sharon stake age group counselor in charge of the affairs. Mrs. Oveson reported that more than 200 Bee Hive girls and Boy Scouts attended the last dance and enjoyed square dancing under un-der the direction of Earl Beck, principal of the Union School.
