Show THE PARK RECORD www.parkrecord.com WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 1 7, 200 1 Profile. B-13 Sandy and Lynette Hatch restore the aged of Park City I Couple trades Dana Point, Calif, for Park City by Karri Hays OF. THE RECORD STAFF Park City has a savior, a savior of furniture furni-ture that is, and it's called Park City Restoration. After living in the salty air of Dana Point, Calif., Sandy and Lynette Hatch came to Park City in 1993. to try a change of pace. For the mountains, snow and four seasons sea-sons they left a window-treatment store -The Shade Shop - an antique store called the Dana Trading Company, and Sandy's incredible job as a boat captain with a 1939-vintage racing sailboat. We wanted to ski, so we came out here in 1990 on a Christmas ski vacation and fell in love with this place," Sandy says while pouring coffee in his newly self-decorated kitchen. On first walking in, the Hatch home could easily be mistaken for a well-stocked antique store. The coffee table is an antique hotel switchboard, a unique sail-maker's bench sits under the front window, knickknacks from the past fill every corner and provide a conversation at every step. The house is literally filled with furniture that was ready to be dumped into the trash and each piece has its own story to tell as the Hatches show you how they reclaimed each one. The Hatch home also doubles as their at-home business that Sandy says his wife discovered in the first few years they lived here. "Lynette started doing furniture restorations for friends and acquaintances and soon found that there was a real niche for it here in Park City," Now working as a husband-and-wife team. Lynette works more on the creative side, providing a full line of upholstery fabrics and decorating services, while Sandy utilizes his expertise as a shipwright. "Working on wooden boats is like maintaining a piece of furniture that is always outside." Sandy laments. With that experience. Sandy can fix pVetty much everything that you bring him. Sandy, who is originally from Boston, Mass., is also known as the "Voice of Park City," working for the Deer Valley Ski Resort as the live ski conditions reporter for KPCW and author of the resort's Inside Edge for the past six years. Sandy works at Deer Valley from 4:30 to 8:30 every morning during the winter, giving him the rest of the day to work on various projects from individuals and local interior designers. "Chairs are my favorite thing to fix." he says. STEPHEN ZUSYIPARK RBCORD STEPHEN niSVfPARK RECORD Sandy Hatch displays some of the antique furniture he and Lynette have restored.
