Melissa McKenna had three points, and Jenny McKenna and Brittany I McQuay added two points apiece to I the Miner effort. "They played a good second X half," said coach Stacy Shaw, 1 pointing out that the 23-3 first-half ' margin was trimmed to 22-14 in the second. "The second half we stayed with them a little bit better." ;. But Shaw, putting a positive spin on things, felt the problem was the short preseason. "I didn't feel we were quite ready. We only had eight practices before the game." Coach Shaw was hoping for a continuation of the second-half effort turned in by the Lady Miners. "It's just one game. We've got 19 games left." Park City got started on those 19 when they played at Morgan after presstime on Tuesday, Nov. 29. They'll play two home games on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 1-2. The first, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, will be against North Sanpete. On Friday, at 5 p.m., the Lady Miners will face cross-county rival South Summit. PC H S h o ckey gets f i r st win i Despite the Park City High School hockey team's rough start, there was a bright spot on Nov. 12. The Miners knocked off Mountain View High School 10-3 for their first win of the season. Mike Martinez notched four goals for Park City, with Nick Allen ,tallying a hat trick-, Dallas Mount had two goals and Jesse Allen one goal for the Miners. The lOgoal performance marked a big jump in the team's offensive output, doubling Park City's season-total goal count. " J " ; ; " On the defensive side, goalie Robbie Schapper made 26 saves on 29 shots-on-goal. Park City coach Scott Schlegel said, "These guys have improved 1,000 percent since the first day they stepped on the ice." The team is looking for community support, both financially and in terms of fans.
