Summit County officers ParkWest, Timberline and the Chalk Creek area. Officers also assisted the UHP. with an accident in Peoa on Dec. 28 which was fatal for two male subjects. The Summit County Criminal Investigation Department is currently investigating a child abuse incident that was reported to the office this past week. Officers responded to two different incidences involving domestic violence in the past week, one in Wanship and one in Christmas Meadows on national forest land. A male subject was arrested at Christmas Meadows and subsequently charged with spouse abuse and booked into the Summit County Jail. Officers responded to three medical assist calls in the past week, one each at Kimball Junction, Silver Creek and Coalville. Nine traffic accidents were responded to recently, including three at Kimball Junction and one each at Woodland, Francis, condition with a broken neck. Nine theft cases were reported to the Sheriffs Department in the past week. These included four at ParkWest involving the theft of snowboards and skis, one in Silver Creek involving the theft of a carton of cigarettes by a juvenile. There was also one at a Jeremy Ranch construction site resulting in a loss $1,000 in equipment and one each at Kimball Junction and in Coalville, both involving the theft of jewelry. Another theft incident in ParkWest involved four snowmobiles reported missing from a rental business which were later located in White Pine Canyon. The one vehicle burglary reported this past week occurred near Pinebrook. On Dec. 28 a caller reported witnessing juveniles smashing the windows of a vehicle in the Silver Springs area. While on patrol on Dec. 27, a deputy discovered that a window in the LDS Stake Center building near Pinebrook had been smashed, apparently by a pop bottle. A citizen returned to hisher vehicle in the parking area near Stagecoach Estates on Jan. 1 to find that someone had kicked in the tailgate panel of the vehicle. Fourteen different persons were booked into the Summit County Jail over the past week on 31 different offenses. These included one driving on an alcohol revocation, one assault, one court commitment, five DUI alcohol or drugs, two DUI injury accidents, three cases of disorderly conduct, one failure to stop and eluding an officer, one failure to appear in court, one failure to appear, one injury in jail, one interference with a public official, two interferences with police, one negligent homicide, one possession of an amphetamine, one possession of a controlled substancemarijuana, five intoxications, one spouse abusedomestic violence, one terroristic threat and one unlawful sale and supply of beer to a minor. Pet of the Week This week's pets are two seven-week-old female shepardlab mix puppies. The two shown also have another sister and three brothers. These are adorable animals and perfect for someone with children or who wants to control how a dog is raised. These wonderful pets are currently located at the Summit County Animal Shelter. The shelter is located at Kimball Junction, 649-5449. Hours are weekday afternoons from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon. The Summit County Friends of Animals always have a number of pets for adoption, both dogs and cats. This week's canines include five labshepard mix puppies, two months old with medium hair, two 2-month-old cocker mix puppies and "Morgan," a neutered vislaspringer mix puppy eight months of age. Also available is "Rufus," a five-month-old housebroken terrier mix that is great with kids and has a clown personality. There are also lots of cats and some kittens available. Adoptable cats and kittens can also be seen at True Value Hardware. The Summit County Friends of Animals can be reached at 649-5441 for more information. All animals would love to have a new home, but if you are unable to offer your home to a pet on a permanent basis, foster homes are needed to help keep pets alive until a permanent home can be found.
