The Park Record Balloon Photo Contest finds talent This year's Park Record Balloon Contest certainly turned into a "new and improved" version as we received at least three times the entries of last year's first contest. With the greater selection came a bigger challenge from Record staffers who judged the show. Judges included our photo technician, writers, ad sales staff-even our publisher sat down to judge photos. There were no specific criteria for judging; while our photo technician probably concerned himself with things like proper composition, most of us based our judgements on our limited photo experience and personal taste. And in the eyes of this group of beholders, there was a good deal of beauty to judge. ., After all the results jvere tallied, theTollowing amateur (we're assuming) photographers came out on top: In the under 12 category, ten-year-old Cena Maxfield astounded most of the staff with her use of early-morning backlighting; in fact, Cena could have held her own in an older age group. Charli Estep was our second choice, and Jenny Jensen took a respectable third place. . In the 12-18-year-old category, Lori Jensen took first with her nice, panoramic view of Autumn Aloft Karen Kibbe won second place, and Amanda Warren earned a third place finish. In the adult, over-18 category, Brian Wyatt narrowly edged out C.R. Brown with his colorful view of an ascending balloon. C R. Brown's golden sunrise took second, and David Dilloway came in third place. Cinema Double Impact features martial arts hero Jean-Gaude Jean-Gaude Van Damme as two twin brothers, and the result is as good as one might expect from the genre.
