Chiropractic Outlook By Donald A.Cofcr.D.C. 1 KeA Interscapular Pain Q. What causes pain between the shoulder blades at die end of the day? r A. Interscapular pain, or pain between the shoulder blades, is very common, especially in women, although it is seen in men as well. Often the cause can be your job, particularly if you sit in one position for long periods each day. , To test this, we use the so-called "push-button sign," pressing the thumb over the point where your neck and shoulder join (the anterolateral portion of the cervical spine). Pain will occur. In some persons, a single session of manipulation will make the problem disappear; some others may need more. The pain should lessen with each visit until it disappears. Changing your posture at work may help to prevent future episodes of pain. The Park City Fire Service District helps to reduce the risk of kitchen fires by giving the following suggestions : Keep things that burn away from the cooking areas and appliances in the kitchen. Don't place towels, pot holders or paper bags on the stove or near hot appliances. Clean any grease buildup from the stove, oven or exhaust fan regularly. Cooking grease and oil ignite easily and burn rapidly. Use a lid or bigger pan to smother a pan fire. Do not use water or flour on a grease fire. It will make the fire bigger. Do not carry a burning pan. Keep a lid, baking soda or a fire extinguisher handy to smother fires. Avoid reaching over the stove for anything. Store frequently needed items in other areas of the kitchen. t. Don't store cookies near the stove. It might tempt little children to climb on the stove.
