If you're an avid skier, you already know what these names stand for. If you don't Brett Buchler will be glad to fill you in. This ski season, Buchler is an instructor at the Park City Ski Area. But for the previous five years he lived in Europe, and has taught skiing in Germany, Switzerland Switzer-land and France. Next Tuesday evening, Feb. 1, Buchler will present a slide show and discussion focused on skiing in Europe. "I thought it might interest people here to see what it's iike,"hesays. Originally from Pennsylvania, Pennsyl-vania, Buchler has since become a world traveler. He has taught school in Puerto Rico, spent a year in Hawaii, travelled by sailboat to Tahiti, then decided that he wanted to experience skiing in Europe. He didn't know German or French, but learned quickly by immersion. Accident kills Park City man Park City resident Gene Austin, 46, died late Jan. 20 in a one-car accident on 1-80. Trooper Ross Pace said Austin was eastbound on the highway, coming down from Parley's Summit, when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. His Mazda 626 veered off the left side of the road into in-to the median strip. Austin overcompensated to correct the car's path, he said, spinning the car back ILf a! Although he no longer sees himself as a tourist, he can still see Europe through the eyes of an American. "I've found there is an awful lot of resentment and an awful lot of jealousy," he says.
