The 167-lb position needs to be filled next year, as does If you said either Nancy Williams or Tori Pillinger, move to the head of the class. Nancy Williams of Sun Valley and Tori Pillinger of Park City chased each other across the finish line three times during a three-race giant slalom series held Saturday and Sunday at Nordic Valley. Meanwhile, in the JII mens' races, Park City's Rolfe Sandberg continued his rise to the top, recording two firsts and a third in three races. The JII category includes 14 and 15-year-old skiers. Among the other consistent con-sistent top-ten finishers for Park City were Nicki Koch (fifth, eighth and fourth) and Andrea Peterson (sixth, sixth and 11th). According to Park City Coach Jim Clifford, the Park City contingent did not seem to be affected by the rain which swept Nordic Valley Sunday, raising havoc with the course. "The worse the weather got, the better they skied," he said. "The majority of them just sucked it up and went for it." Clifford argues that the season-long rivalry between Pillinger and Williams has kept both skiers on their toes. "I think Tori's got the edge on Nancy for the whole year, but Nancy breaks it up a SNOWCREST CONDOMINIUMS Adjacent to Ski Slopes & Golf Course 1 Year Old Ideal For Skiers 1 -Bedroom Unit Includes Furniture Package $92,500 Loan Bal. $42,300 14 38 Assumable Terms Available 1 -Bedroom Unit With Loft Includes Furniture Package Asking $119,500 Loan Bal. $48,300 14 38 Assumable Terms Available Tibbs Kusscx'iutcs Contact: Stephen Tibbs 4700 So. 900 East No. 9C Salt Lake City, Utah 84117 (801)266-6062 LETTERHEADS BUSINESS CARDS FLYERS BROCHURES FORMS POSTERS ADVERTISING PMT W DO 'ESETTINC DESICN BUSINESS CARDS BROCHURES FORMS FLYERS LETTERHEADS POSTERS ADVERTISING LABELS LOCOS MAILERS PMTS TYPESETTING DESIGN SCP R I N T I N Gs', LETTERHEADS BUSINESS CARDS FLYERS BROCHURES FORMS POSTERS ADVERTISING LABELS LOCOS MAILERS PMTS TYPESETTING DESIGN FLYERS BROCHURE 6 4 9 - 9 0 7 4 ERHEADS POSTERS MAILERS PMTS ADVERTISING DESIGN LOGOS LABELS TYPESETTING the heavyweight bracket. The kids improved im-proved throughout the season. sea-son. We were fairly competitive competi-tive this year, but we had our ups and downs." Regarding the state tournament, tour-nament, Carlson was happy about the competitive level reached by all the teams. "There were so many dp-sets. dp-sets. State champs got beat sometimes. The competition is so great. You have to be your best every time or you'll get beat. Wrestling has become very unpredictable. You can't rely on past accomplishments." The 1982-83 wrestling season sea-son will start in early November. The Miners are scheduled to meet Ogden and Intermountain in their first matches. little bit. It's nice to have her around to keep Tori honest." Although they didn't win any trophies, four 11-year-old Park City racers also made a name for themselves, them-selves, competing against the 12- and 13-year-old (JIII) skiers. Jeremy Nobis, Bret Johnson and Tyler Tebbs all recorded top-ten finishes among the JIII boys (Nobis finished no worse than seventh in three races) while Stephanie Palmer finished 10th, ninth and seventh among the JIII girls. "She did pretty good against all those other older girls," Clifford said. "She really skied hot." For complete results, please turn to the Scoreboard Score-board section. This weekend, the "A" and JI racers will compete in a downhill in Jackson 'Hole. The JII and JIII racers are scheduled to go to Kelly Canyon, near Idaho Falls, for a Junior Olympic qualifier quali-fier in slalom, while the JIV and JV skiers will compete in a slalom at Nordic Valley. Williams recorded one first and two seconds while Pillinger picked up two first and a second, leaving the rest of the field to fight for the scraps. "This is probably the biggest weekend of the year for us," Clifford said." |
