Holiday Village Mall o Resort Center (Next to the Gondola) Babies are born every minute around the world. Big deal, right? At the Park City Health Center, if the baby weighs just over two pounds, and it's the first one delivered in the facility, it's a big deal. "It was very exciting," said Dr. Robert Winn of the Holy Cross clinic in Mt. Air Mall. "It was a real nice story of how things can work well." Dr. Winn said the story began Monday morning when an Evanston couple was on their way to the University of Utah hospital to deliver their premature baby . . . premature by more than two months. The couple got as far as Silver Creek Junction when it became apparent they weren't going to get to Salt Lake City in time. A frantic call to the hospital resulted ' in a calming message to stay put, that help was on the way. The hospital contacted the Summit County Dispatch, Dispat-ch, and an ambulance raced to Silver Creek Junction. The emergency medical technicians on the ambulance ambulan-ce alerted the doctors at the Park City Health Center. At the same time, the University Univer-sity of Utah Hospital got their helicopter started and sent the Intermountain Newborn Intensive Care Unit Team to Park City. "Dr. (Tom) Schwenk delivered the baby about three minutes after they came in the door," Dr. Winn said, who then took over to stabilize the tiny infant. "The biggest problem the .baby had was with its breathing. It had no spontaneous spon-taneous breathing or heart beat. We put a tube down the throat and a line into the umbilicus." The helicopter arrived with an incubator, and the baby was rushed off to the hospital, where it received intensive care. "The baby is very sick, but a fair number of that size make it with the kind of special care available at the hospital," Dr. Winn said. . "It was our first delivery in the clinic," he continued, "and we were pleased we had everything we needed to handle it. It was very gratifying, because the transport tran-sport team said they were amazed at what we were able to do." "It's a credit to dispatch, the ambulance, and everyone involved. It was nice to see the system work. We were realy happy with everybody." If February 3) y 55!SuIjlljLlLljiL-"IUL Otlj h fj if b il !'
