Hurricane NTh." ' U- 1 Santa Clara 2 1 St. George Pine Valley Chapel 1. ST. GEORGE. The early Mormon settlers to Utah established St. George as an attempt to develop their cotton industry. The city features an L.D.S. Temple and Tabernacle the latter being one of the finest examples of 19th century architecture in Utah. You can play golf year round, ride horses, explore the history of the region or simply enjoy its shirt sleeve climate. 2. SANTA CLARA. Jacob Hamblin and other missionaries to the Indians settled this town. The first Utah cotton was planted here and Zion National Park harvested. Jacob Hamblin's home is now a state historical site. 3. SNOW CANYON STATE PARK. Accessible through redrock lined Snow Canyon. 4. EXTINCT VOLCANOES. There are several beautifully symmetrical volcanic cones to be found ... a reminder of the turbulent geologic past. 5. PINE VALLEY. A pioneer village, hardly changed since the 19th century. It features a chapel built in 1868 by Ebenezer Bryce Bryce Canyon's namesake. 6. PINE VALLEY MOUNTAINS AND LAKE. An exceptional alpine setting with camping, hiking and fishing. 7. PINTO. An old pioneer settlement with many of the frontier buildings still intact. 8. OLD IRONTOWN. The remnants of an ill-fated ill-fated early Mormon iron-making venture. 9. IRON MINE AND IRON MOUNTAIN. An extensive iron mining area which provides most of the iron ore for the steelworks at Geneva Steel north of Provo. 10. CEDAR CITY. Home of the annual Shakespearean Festival on the campus of Southern Utah State College. Iron Mission State Park, Old Rock Chapel and Pioneer Cabin in the city park are points of interest. 11. CEDAR BREAKS NATIONAL MONUMENT. Brilliantly colored, wind eroded rock formations forma-tions and beautiful forests are here for the camera to capture. 12. BRIAN HEAD RESORT. A beautiful high mountain resort that offers skiing in the winter and a summer home retreat. Hiking, camping and picnicking. 13. KOLOB CANYON. An interesting short drive through sheer, beautifully colored rock canyons. 14. ZION NATIONAL PARK. Easily reached by taking Highway 9 east.
