Show Ill' Xlji - Mountainmen. They were the trappers and explorers who came to Bridgerland in search of beaver. They were the first white men to discover this rich part of Utah abundant in water, timber and wildlife. The most famous was Jim Bridger, whose name christens this area today. LOGAN. This picturesque cultural center of Bridgerland awaits you with a variety of sites and activities. You'll find historic Utah State University, which annually hosts the Festival of the American West, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Museum. Visit the Community Art Center, enjoy a theatrical performance at the old Lyric Repertory Company or view the beautiful Logan Temple. 2. LIVING HISTORICAL FARM. The Ronald V. Jensen Farm and Man and His Bread Museum are just five miles south of Logan. The farm features steam powered tractors, harvesters, threshers and other early farm machinery all in full operation. The museum holds one of the largest collections of agricultural. artifacts west of the Mississippi River. Open from 10 am to 4 pm. ..,. 3. HARDWARE RANCH. Just 17 miles east of Hyrum on Highway 101 lies the Hardware Hard-ware Ranch operated by the Division of Wildlife Resources, where up to several hundred elk can be seen roaming in their natural and free state. 4. SMITHFIELD. Take a short side trip to Smithfield and visit the world's largest Swiss Cheese factory, where you'll enjoy a tasty and educational experience. 5. LOGAN CANYON. It's uphill through the beauty of Logan Canyon on U.S. 89 where five hundred million years of geologic history soars around you in the form of majestic canyon sculptures, towering cliffs and rugged rocky terrain that interweaves with the serenity of Cache National Forest. There's plenty of hiking, camping, fishing and awesome scenery to be found in this unique Bridgerland canyon. 6. JARDINE JUNIPER. Hikers will find the gnarled juniper still growing from its rocky crag as it has for 3500 years. 7. RICK'S SPRINGS. Stop for a drink of icy mountain spring water that has its origin with the pure snowfall of winter. 8. TONY GROVE LAKE. A side trip to this high mountain remnant of the last glacial age rewards the traveler with yet another jewel of Logan Canyon. 9. BEAVER MOUNTAIN. Summer uncovers the beauty of this area to those who make the trip to Bridgerland's alpine retreat. 10. BEAR LAKE. The deep, crystal blue waters of Bear Lake are first glimpsed as you descend out of the tree shrouded mountains on U.S. 89. Perhaps you'll choose to spend some time swimming, water skiing, horseback riding, fishing, golfing and sailing. Bear Lake offers an array of excellent recreational activities, and many overnight accommodations for the traveler. 11. BEAR RIVER VALLEY. Where beautiful mountain valley scenery surrounds Highway High-way 16 on its southern journey. Pioneers and settlers crossed through this valley as they followed the Oregon Trail. 12. MONTE CRISTO.
