In Nine Mile Canyon you'd call it Ancient Indian Mural Country. But yoU can see the variety in this beautiful land of Carbon and Emery counties by taking one of the following tours. In downtown Price there's the prehistoric museum in City Hall, and a mining museum at City Hall in downtown Helper. 2. NINE MILE CANYON (ON HIGHWAY 53). A turn-of-the-century stagecoach and freight route and center of the Fremont Indian culture of about 1000 A.D. Deserted log cabins, Indian petroglyphs and picto-graphs picto-graphs abound in the area. 3. GREEN RIVER. An historic river crossing and oasis of the desert. Famous for Green River melons and for being the outfitting point for Butch Cassidy and the Wild Bunch. wmm Petroglyphs 4. GOBLIN VALLEY STATE PARK (Temple Mountain Jet.) A weird collection of sandstone sand-stone gnomes and gargoyles lurk above visitors to this secluded valley. 5. HONDOO ARCH. Wild, rugged, awesome redrock arch formed in the shape of a cowboy's lariat. Be sure and check local road conditions. 6. SAN RAFAEL SWELL. An immense, hollowed out dome with vivid buttes, gorges and canyons. Much of this area is unexplored. 7. ASSEMBLY HALL AND WINDOWBLIND PEAKS. Two massive landmarks. Windowblind is the largest free-standing monolith in Utah. 8. BUCKHORN DRAW. Ancient Indian drawings draw-ings on the canyon walls date back over 1,000 years. 9. THE WEDGE OVERLOOK. It looks down from one thousand feet above the San Rafael River offering a matchless view of redrock canyons and massive buttes. 10. CLEVELAND-LLOYD DINOSAUR QUARRY AND VISITOR CENTER. Castle Country was once the shoreline of a vast inland in-land sea, where tropical forests harboured the Castle Gate ! - vyO' i "Thunder Lizards" of the past.
