High students enjoy a day of fishing and KresLynn Knouse, Jasmine Prestwich, Corishae Nunley and Brittnee Richardson SJHS STAFF WRITERS' Nestled away in a corner of Salem, beautiful Salem Pond was the site for the annual fishing day. Lots of kids were there to have the opportunity to catch fish and gut them out if they wanted too. For some, this was their first time they had even touched a fish. For many, this was this first opportunity to have one on one instruction on how to catch trout. The participating students stu-dents were from different groups such as the students with special needs in Nebo district and some other teen volunteer groups. Dozens of Utah County firefighters volunteered to help put bait on the fishing fish-ing lines, hand out fishing poles, and a lot more. This is an end of the year activity every year. It gets everyone together for a great experience. Free Lunch and drinks were also served by volunteers. As we covered this activity ac-tivity for our newspaper article, we were able to learn about other news crews that were there also. We got to talk to the Channel 5 KSL news team. We talked to the reporter and we asked him several questions. We asked if he Youth Tackle Football Springville Youth Tackle Football for 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades is being organized. We also-asked him if being a reporter was hard and he replied "It can be because you have to be everywhere, but it's also really fun". The most fun person to interview was Big Buddha, from Fox 13. We learned all about his past and how he got into journalism. He grew up in Hawaii where he and his friends would take a camcorder and act like a news crew and interview inter-view different college girls, until they got into trouble and had to stop. Later on, Big Buddha thought that it would actually be a fun job so then he went to college . and got a degree in journalism. jour-nalism. It was great talk-. ing to him again. We hope we can go next year and have another great experience like that again. 1 i Sl, tit la...- AJt? The days are longer and that not only means nicer weather, but more time in the sun. It was once thought that 80 percent of lifetime sun exposure was received before the age 18, but studies have shown that this was never the case. The Skin Cancer Foundation Foun-dation is here to dispel this myth and would like to remind your readers to be mindful of the time spent in the sun no matter 4 what age. Attached please find more information, including the importance of making sun protection part of your daily regimen throughout the entire year.
