Labels are not for people. - Martina Navratilova Thursday, May 8, 2008 Mapleton resident Hannah Han-nah Serr was recently honored hon-ored with an award that has only been achieved by one other pianist in the history of the Utah Valley South Region of the Utah Federation of Music Clubs. Serr, who has been taking tak-ing piano lessons since age 7, was awarded her 75-point 75-point Gold Cup during the organization's Gold Cup Recital last Saturday. The National Federation of Music Clubs, including includ-ing the Utah Valley South Region, has a program through which young pianists pia-nists learn solos and perform per-form them for judges each year, earning up to five points per year depending upon the quality of their performance. Students scoring the highest amount of possible points for three years in a row earn their 15-point Gold Cup. As students progress, they can eventually earn enough points for their 30-point, 30-point, 45-point and 60-point Gold Cups. Students have other opportunities to earn Spring into It's growing season again and your chance to blossom at the Springville Museum of Art.
