Basketball Season Starts with Effort Megan Bandmann MJHS STAFF WRITER Thirty-four girls, two coaches, and a dozen basketballs bas-ketballs can mean only one thing; it's try out time again. On Nov. 7th, girls flocked into the MJHS gyms waiting wait-ing to show the coaches just what they can do and why they should be on the Mapleton Junior girl's basketball bas-ketball team. But, after the first three ladder laps on the court and running back and forth 16times in less than two minutes, the girls realized real-ized that trying out for the team would not be easy. And it wasn't. Many of the girls were gasping. Jordan Brown said, "It's your athletic ability and your attitude. That's what I think gets you onto the team. I'm glad I tried out." Many of the girls knew it would be a challenge, but that did not stop them from shouting out encouragement encourage-ment to others. After the tryouts, words of praise could be heard from the lockers to the waiting cars outside. Whatever happens this year, there's no doubt that the girls who make the team will not only push themselves, but also encourage en-courage others to do so. r . a 1 r ' I ami ubiialvl 1 u Save More!
