The settlement with Purdue Pur-due Frederick Company, Inc. and Pharma, L.P., (collectively (col-lectively "Purdue") comes after a four-year investigation investiga-tion by the federal and state law enforcement agencies. "Oxycontin has a long track record in Utah as a drug known for widespread wide-spread abuse and illegal sales. Purdue and all pharmaceutical phar-maceutical companies will be held accountable for the way they market heavy duty narcotics like Oxycontin," Oxycon-tin," says Attorney General Mark Shurtleff. Under the terms of Utah's settlement, the state of Utah will recover $1,277,580 for the Utah Medicaid Program; $382,121 of that amount will be paid directly to Utah. The balance will go to the federal government to reimburse its share of the Medicaid costs.
