They read about a boy who never played baseball. At first Ronald held his baseball bat upside down. He even closed his eyes when he tried to bat. Ronald kept missing the ball. To put the book, "Ronald Morgan Goes Up to Bat" to action, the second graders had the opportunity to "play ball." The game was improvised with using cones for bases. In any event they all had a great time. We have some great players at our school! Story was written with some help from Julia Singleton, 2nd grader in Mrs. Harrison's class. Yes, with a bucket of water and mop! Can we bake our bread? Yes, in our brick oven! And last but not least can we stay in bed if the electricity goes off? Of course, there's no alarm to wake us! Yippee! Students also listed all the things at school that took electricity to work. Wow! almost everything. There were no bells, no intercom, no music, no lights, no overhead over-head projectors, no lights in dark bathroom (just flash lights, which were readily available). And it was looking like school lunch would be from a sack. Fortunately those great men from the power company saved the day and had the power on by 9:20. We're all very thankful for electricity.
