Rex M. Rogers Have you ever told someone a secret only to hear it repeated later from another source? What happened? hap-pened? It leaked. That's what happened. Somebody forgot that "Loose lips sink ships.?" Maybe you told the secret se-cret to the wrong person, the kind of person that never met a secret he could keep. So if the secret's out, in this case it's probably your poor judge of personality person-ality or even character. But have you ever shared a secret with someone you trusted and still the secret got out? You told the secret se-cret only to your confidante confi-dante and were later chagrined cha-grined to learn that your confidence was apparently misplaced. That one can hurt, because be-cause confidentiality involves in-volves trust and integrity, and when those valuable conditions are broken, it does hurt. I have this theory, one of many I can't prove, that "Everyone has a confidante." con-fidante." In other words, you communicate a secret to your confidante and he later tells his confidante, and then she tells hers and so it goes. No one shared the secret in a manner considered risky. But still the secret leaked. The secret leaked because be-cause someone in the chain made a human error and let it slip (I can remember making this mistake). Or maybe they just trusted a person who proved untrustworthy. un-trustworthy. No matter how you slice it confidentiality is a tenuous tenu-ous thing. It has been since the Garden of Eden. People love to talk, to be in the know with new info, or maybe just to gossip. But still, we all need someone with whom we can discuss matters not yet ready for primetime. So what do we do? We could take Harry Truman?s advice. ad-vice. He said, "If you need a friend in Washington, buy a dog." Better yet, remember re-member this: The juicier the secret the less likely it will remain a secret. Trust the Lord, and after that, double-check whether your dog has a confidante. 410 South 430 West Springville, Utah 84663 Dr. Harold Judd Davis D.V.M. Veterinarian 801-489-9676 DOG & CAT BOARDING!
