From 1932 to 1975, Floyd Gottfredson, was responsible respon-sible for drawing Disney's Mickey Mouse cartoon strip. Gottfredson, who was raised in Sigurd, Utah, began studying the art of animation when he was only 13 years old through a series of correspondence courses. Determined to succeed in his craft, Gottfredson Gott-fredson moved to Los Angeles An-geles in 1928, where he met Walt Disney, who told him cartoons were on their way out while animation was on its way in. During this visit, Disney hired Gottfredson immediately. immedi-ately. Gottfredson was 24 years old and made a whopping whop-ping $18 per week. Eventually Eventu-ally shifting Gottfredson back from animation to cartooning, Gottfredson stayed with the cartoon strip for 45 years, until his retirement in 1975. Another famous contributor con-tributor to animation, and sometimes referred to as the one who could be considered con-sidered ultimately responsible responsi-ble for bringing animation back in the limelight is Don Bluth. Some say Bluth has done as much for animation anima-tion as Disney, with such credits to his name as, All "Dogs Go to Heaven," "The Secret of NIMH," "The Land Before Time," "Titan A.E," "Anastasia, Dragon's Lair" and "An American Tail." Forming his own animation anima-tion studio with Morris Sullivan, Sul-livan, they then paired up with Steven Spielberg to make, "An American Tail," followed by, "Land Before Time." Bluth's latest release was the animated film, "Titan "Ti-tan A.E." 1 : Latter-day Saint Richard Rich directed animated films, such as "Muhammad: The Last Prophet," "The King and I," "The Swan Princess" and "The Fox and the Hound." He was also Assistant Animation Director for, "The Small One," in which he wrote one song. He also worked Assistant Animation Director Direc-tor for "The Rescuer's" and "Pete's Dragon."
