Alan Osmond and TheFamily.com launch "Get Noi-Z" campaign at America's Freedom Festival ' Stadium of Fire founder, Alan Osmond, is initiating a campaign at The Freedom Free-dom Festival this year. The campaign encourages everyone who believes in promoting and protecting family values - to unite, stand up and "Get Noi-Z"! During America's Freedom Free-dom Festival, Alan Osmond Os-mond and his associates at TheFamily.com will be launching a campaign that will encourage families fami-lies of all backgrounds to stand up and speak up in support of promoting and State officials urge firework safety July 4th and Pioneer Day will bring more enjoyment en-joyment and fewer accidents ac-cidents this year if consumers con-sumers take safety precautions pre-cautions when handling fireworks. To help make this July 4th and Pioneer Day the safest on record, the licensed li-censed Utah Fireworks industry in-dustry and the State Fire Marshal's Office offer the following safety rules for people celebrating with fireworks this year. Buy fireworks in Utah from licensed fireworks stands or retail outlets. Select only safe fireworks fire-works that are legal for use in Utah. Always read and follow fol-low directions carefully. Never experiment with fireworks. Allow enough room for proper functioning. Light one at a time. Keep a safe distance away. Never give fireworks to small children. Store in a cool, dry and safe place out of reach of children. Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy, dispose of properly. According to the U.S. consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and the Utah licensed fireworks fire-works industry, most injuries associated with fireworks are principally caused by misuse. The CPC advises consumers to only purchase fireworks from licensed stands or retail outlets. Any fireworks used in the state must be legal under Utah law and ap proved by the U.S. department de-partment of Transportation, Transporta-tion, CPSC and the Office of the State Fire Marshal. The State of Utah Fireworks Fire-works Act is a carefully balanced law, which allows al-lows Utah citizens to buy and use legal fireworks safely and responsibly to celebrate the Fourth of July and Pioneer Day. Remember, the possession posses-sion of discharge of illegal ille-gal fireworks is a Class B misdemeanor. Help make these holidays safe and enjoyable for all. protecting traditional family fam-ily values. "We are facing a crisis in America today. The family is being attacked by wrong forces that break down the principles and values of families," said Osmond. "We need to step up, raise our voices, and fight these forces that are out to destroy our families! We need to come together and "Get Noi-Z"! - The initial phase of the campaign will be to build awareness and excitement about the ongoing charitable chari-table events administrated byTheFamily.com. "As parents, we have been entrusted with these little children to protect, to care for and to teach. The "Get Noi-Z" campaign helps us teach them how to hl Financial Focus Take Steps to Avoid Investment Scams Greg Johnson EDWARD JONES FINANCIAL It's unfortunate, unfortu-nate, but true: Unscrupulous people and companies do try to take advantage advan-tage of unsuspecting investors. And the Internet has made it a lot easier for these predators to reach a mass audience. To avoid potential ripoffs, you need to be vigilant, and you need to ask questions - lots of them. While there are many types of fraudulent activities floating around the Internet, one of the most common scams resembles a "pyramid scheme," by which shady operators initially appear legitimate le-gitimate by using money coming in from new recruits to pay off early stage investors. If you participate in such a plan, you might make a little money right away, only to be encouraged - or required - to buy a "membership" so you can boost your earnings. However, when the pyramid gets too big, it will eventually eventu-ally implode, because, at its heart, it is a dishonest arrangement that can never truly be funded enough to reward all investors. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued guidance guid-ance for you to defend yourself against "get rich quick" schemes; Here are a few of the SEC's suggestions: sug-gestions: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This piece of advice has been around a long time, and it's just as valid today as when it was first uttered. If someone promises prom-ises you a high rate of return, be suspicious. Compare what's being offered with current returns of well-known stock market indexes. Investigate a company before you invest. The company that "pitches" you an offer may well have an impressive-sounding name, but that doesn't mean much. Before you spend a dollar, contact the secretary of state where the company is incorporated to see if the company is, in fact, a corporation, corpo-ration, and whether it is in good standing. You can also call your own state securities regulator to see whether the company, or whoever who-ever is promoting the offer, has a history of complaints or frauds. If the company has only a post office box or is unwilling to provide you with information about its location or. management, you are looking at a "red flag" already. Ignore "testimonials." If a company com-pany is fraudulent, it won't have much trouble generating fake testimonials tes-timonials from "satisfied customers." custom-ers." Say "no thanks" to "guarantees." When a promoter guarantees you a high rate of return, you can be assured there's something amiss. In the investment world, high returns re-turns are typically only achieved by higher-risk vehicles and they don't offer guarantees. In fact, no reputable financial professional will promise you a specific return on a stock or other variable security. Forget about "Shortcuts" Most of the schemes you will encounter promise big returns in short periods pe-riods of time. But in reality, that hardly ever happens. Substantial growth in investments typically occurs over a long period of time - which means that, as an investor, you need patience and discipline above all else. Ultimately, there is no shortcut to investment success. You need to evaluate each investment opportunity opportu-nity based on your individual goals risk tolerance, portfolio balance and time horizon.
