Jr. High Secretaries Our School year has begun and as you come in or out of the Jr. High some of the first faces you see belong to our wonderful secretaries in the front office. We know they are truly the ones who keep our school going and us all in the right places at the right times. Brenda Bales is our attendance atten-dance office secretary. She works hard keeping up with the attendance for all 1200 students. She checks students stu-dents in and out of school and takes the phone calls (constantly) and also does basic first aid when it is care about us. Nan Davis is our newest member of the front office. She has been working only two weeks but says she already al-ready loves the people she works with. She also likes to talk on the phone and workplay with the computer. comput-er. She also feels students would be happier if they try to get to school on time each day. We are very excited to have her working in our school this year. Joy Maughan is the counseling coun-seling office Guru (I mean secretary). She says the counseling office is busy registering reg-istering and releasing students stu-dents this school year and helping students with their problems. They also will han- the Nebo School District for seven years. She also loves the association with the students stu-dents and hopes students remember re-member that the counseling office is the place to come to get help. "It's an open door so come in whenever." Janine Murdock is the smiling face in the front office. of-fice. She takes care of all the financial issues. She has worked here for 20 years and says she loves talking with the students. Her advice for new students is "these are the years when you learn study habits for the future." The most challenging part of her job is registering 1200 students each year. Her favorite part of the job is working with kids and she loves the students. Her least favorite part is the phone, "Six lines ringing constantly" con-stantly" would be hard for anyone. Brenda makes it look easy. Her advice for entering students is to be patient, "patience "pa-tience matters". She suggests trying to get to school on time for a successful year. To quote Brenda, "we are the mothers of the school". She says if it weren't for the love of the students and working to have a great year the secretaries sec-retaries wouldn't be here. We definitely know they die SEOP's and will organize friendship groups this year. Her advice to students is "don't be afraid to get involved in-volved and have a good attitude atti-tude about your school." I should never jump from one trampoline to another in the dark. Everyone changes over the summer... even me, I've learned.... If you can make your mom feel young, she will give you a dollar. If I ask my dad for something and lie says no, he really means it. No matter how weird you family is, you should still try to like them. Everybody's family is just as weird as mine is. My big brother isn't the jerk I tlKHightnewas. Parents always ask more questions when I have less I want to tell them. Seeing parents happy is just as important as seeing them to-getlier. to-getlier. Parents (and please don't tell anyone I said this) are usually smarter than kids are. I've learned... The friends you make when you are younger last longer. It is easy to make friends as long as you are open to it. Sometimes friends abandon other friends for girlfriends, but I can just make new ones. You can hold onto friends longer if you will learn to reason with them. . .and forgive them. I've learned... Enemies will eventually go away, but bad grades haunt you for the rest of your life. Kids who kiss up to teachers get good grades, but they also get teased at lunch. English class is even harder when it's not your first language. lan-guage. If you pay attention, you will understand what the teacher is talking about. If there is any way to get out of the standing ana waiting in the lunch line, TAKE IT! Even though I am bigger, I don't get down the hallways any faster. If you include everyone, you will team more and your experience experi-ence will be better. Never give your locker combination combi-nation out. You will regret it even if you don't get caugtt. I've learned... You should never trust other people with your money. If the Coke machine says "Out of Order," you really shouldn't put your money in it. People shouldn't care so much about name-brand clothes. Boys can't take hints... you have to be direct. Most people never learned what "no" really means. The world is mostly selfish and I'm the worst offender.
