Ticket sales from the dance go towards helping Chris Vincent SHS STAFF WRITER It started out as a cool, crisp January morning, January 26 to be exact, at 7:30 in the morning in front of Springville High School. Students from Mrs. Leek's Psychology 2 class gathered to take a trip to. the state prison. When the SHS students got off the bus at the prison, they had to pass through extensive security measures, and each student received a visitor pass. After Af-ter they passed through security, se-curity, they walked through metal detectors, and as they progressed through the prison they found that no two doors where open at the same time. Once they were inside, the students were shown a short video about the prison system, and they were able to have an open-panel open-panel discussion with the prisoners. The prisoners spoke about how life was in the prison, and the regrets they have. One student stated, "The trip was very interesting; it helped you to see the actual prison system rather than what you see on TV." The students then talked to the staff and the trip to the prison came to an end. They ventured to the bus and returned to SHS. The Springville High School D'Males have more members than ever before. Forty seven senior boys are participating in the male version ver-sion of Springville's drill team this year. The 2005 D'Males Drill Mistresses are Dan Gardner and Nate Teuscher, the president presi-dent is Cam Crandall, and the advisors are senior girls' drill team members. For the SHS senior boys, being a member of the D'Males D'-Males is an important part of the senior experience. Senior Taylor Gardner says "D'Males "D'-Males means the world to me. For the first time I can interpret my feeling into stylized styl-ized dancing. In fact, if I were to ever get into a "dance fight," I would most easily come out the victor. D'Males builds stronger men." Eric Sumsion joined D'Males D'-Males because, he says, "All my life I've wanted to do a kick line and now I finally fi-nally can." After practicing practic-ing at 6 a.m. in the morning morn-ing almost every day for two straight weeks, the D'Males will show their stuff to a number of songs, including "The Devil Inside," In-side," "Spice Girls" and "Heartbreaker." The D'Males D'-Males will perform tomorrow, tomor-row, Feb. 18, at halftime during the boys' basketball game against Spanish Fork High School in the main gym. p CSV; . .
