Show NEW CIRCULATING WATER SYSTEM AT MILLS BEING PUT IN: j A new $750,000 water circulat-1 ing system to insure the return of better milling water from its huge j tailing pond "I ' presently being constructed by the Utah Copper Division. The project includes the construction con-struction of a 54-inch redwood pipe line from the dewatering boxes et the northeast side of the tailing pond 14,900 feet around the pond to the number one pump station near the Utah Magna Mill. The line will replace the open canal previously used to return tailings pond water to the mill for reuse. Water in the canal was constantly con-stantly being detrimentally affected by the influx of waste water, aid P. H. Ensign, mill superintendent. Quality of the water available to the Utah Arthur Mill is satisfactory for plant use and the project will permit thereuse of the Arthur wa- j. ter for Magna, it was explained. J Included a part of the project are control gates which will be used to separate the water satis- factorily for milling purposes from 1 other water. The new circulating system - is expected to be completed some ( time in May. The redwood line will return approximately 25,000 gallons gal-lons of water a minute back to the Utah Magna and Arthur Mill for 1 reuse. Improving the purity of the wa- 1 ter being used to mill the ore is ) expected to improve metal recovery 1 Mr. Ensign said. t |
