She was born July 23, 1917 to William Edward and Margaret Ann Morgan Ruff, in Storrs (Spring Canyon), Carbon County. She married Glenn "Bus" Allan Tipton Tip-ton on September 20, 1937 in the Salt Lake IDS Temple. She attended school in Price and graduated from Carbon High School in 1935, after which she and her family moved to Springville. After her marriage her life was devoted to rearing her family and serving faithfully faithful-ly as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving diligently in many callings. These included Ward Primary President, Ward and Stake Relief Society President, Presi-dent, and a teacher in all the various auxiliaries and served on the Primary and MIA Stake Boards. Currently she was serving serv-ing as a visiting teacher supervisor super-visor and as a visiting teacher in the Relief Society. She also had the opportunity of serving a mini mission in the Ireland, Dublin mission in the mission home with her brother in-law and his wife (President Vernon J. Norma Tipton). She was able to fulfill a life long dream with her husband by traveling to the Holy Land. She served as a member of the ladies fireman's auxiliary and enjoyed the association with those women as they served their community. She enjoyed reading and belonged to the We Readers Club. She was also an avid BYU Cougar fan. Everyone loved her cook- L. Frank Springer Lowell Franklin Springer, age 91, passed away April 10, 2004, at his home in Springville, Utah. He was born April 16, 1912, in Midway the son of Jeremiah Jere-miah Robey Springer and Lydia Rosetta Bigler. He married Louise Patrick of Springville on May 15, 1941, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They are the parents par-ents of seven children. Frank attended school in Midway, Mid-way, Mt. Pleasant and Provo, and graduated from Park City High School in 1931, where he played center on the basketball team. After graduation, Frank worked on a dairy farm in Sny-derville. Sny-derville. He also worked for the CCC camp where he helped construct con-struct the Hobble Creek and Nebo Loop roads. He then worked for the Arden Milk Company in Salt Lake City. In 1939 he enrolled at Brigham Young University and graduated graduat-ed with an accounting degree. He worked for Geneva Steel for 34 years. Upon retirement, he served at the Provo Temple for nineyears as a temple recorder and ordinance worker. Frank was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully faith-fully as a ward clerk, stake missionary, mis-sionary, stake mission president, presi-dent, high councilor, stake clerk for 14 years, ward High Priest Group leader and a faithful home teacher. He was a friend to everyone and showed his love for friends, neighbors and strangers by countless acts of kindness. He and his wife were loyal BYU fans. Lucy M. Evans July 20, 1909 -April 9, 2004 Lucy Mitchell Evans, age 94, a long time resident of Springville, Utah, passed away April 9, 2004 at the home of her daughter, Jean Thomas, in Orem, of natural causes. She was born July 20, 1909 in Vernal Ver-nal to George Young and Lucy Hall Mitchell. She married Lorus Merrill Evans in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 4, 1956. She resided and raised her four children in Springville most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent her life in service to her family. She loved teaching the little children chil-dren in Primary and the young ladies in Mutual, the Gleaners. Lucy loved her garden and home. She loved to quilt, crochet cro-chet and visit with family and friends. She lived with Lula Jean Thomas, her daughter and Ray C. who passed away Mary 21, 2003. Her husband Lorus Evans preceded her in death. She was the oldest of eleven children; all deceased except one sister, Ge-nieve Ge-nieve M. Shepherd of Mesa, ing and canned goods. She worked for the church at the Beehive Clothing Center in Springville and later in Provo for eighteen and one-half years, retiring at the age of 74. She is survived by her five children: Marilyn (Wayne) Samuelson, Phoenix, AZ; Judy (Leon) Bleggi, Rexburg, ID, Glenna (Bob) Gottfredson, Springville, UT; Sharon (John) Hansen, Fillmore, UT; and Allan (Teresa) Tipton, Springville, UT; 22 grandchildren and 57 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. She was preceded preced-ed in death by her husband, one grandchild, Shane Bleggi, two great-grandchildren, Adam and Bryant Greer; and sisters, Alice Crawford, Marguerite Hales, Melva and Marie Ruff (twins), and brothers, William "Bill" Ruff and Verlon Ruff. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Apr. 15, at 1 1 am in the Springville Spring Creek South Stake Center, 400 E. 400 North. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family thanks Dr. David J. Tipton and all the staff at Mtn. View Hospital for their thoughtful and tender care of their mother. WSC's ballroom dance team gives performance The nationally recognized ballroom dance team at Utah Valley State College will present pre-sent a pre-tour concert before heading to New Zealand and Australia this summer. The performance per-formance will be held in the UVSC Ragan Theater at 7:30 p.m. April 16 and 17 with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on April 17. The ballroom team is currently current-ly ranked second in the nation for ballroom dance and will leave for their summer tour on May 2. The tour includes stops in cities like Sydney, Brisbane, Auckland and Wellingtoa The pre-tour concert is designed de-signed to gear the dancers up for the tour and share their months of hard work with the Utah Valley community. More than 33 different styles of ballroom ball-room dance will be presented including Latin, standard, social and American. Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $8 for UVSC students, faculty and staff and $9 general admission.
