The Villa's version of this classic Christmas tale immortalized immor-talized by Charles Dickens in 1865, includes the powerful language, humor and warmth found in the novel. It is a simple story that tells of the redemption of a human soul. Scrooge, a lonely miser, is played by VIP ARTS founder and managing director Bill Brown. This production is directed by veteran director Mel Taylor, who has staged countless productions of this classic around Utah Valley. Provo Canyon toad project goes forward The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) recently received federal approval to move forward with the next phase of its Provo Canyon Improvement Project on U.S. Highway 189. UDOT anticipates awarding awar-ding a contract early next year and beginning construction construc-tion in early 2004. The highway high-way will also be moved off the top of Deer Creek Dam and onto a new bridge which will skirt the face of the dam. Fill material used to construct the bridge will also provide reinforcement for the dam. Environmental benefits of the project include relocating the road away from the Provo River, increasing soil stability in the Hoover Slide area and extending the PrO-voJordan PrO-voJordan River Parkway Trail. Straightening existing curves at the Deer Creek Dam and Horseshoe Bend will enhance safety. The estimated cost to construct the project, which is funded through the Centennial Highway High-way Fund, is $55 million.
