Ferris LaVar Edmund Ferris, Fer-ris, 84, of Springville, passed away Monday. July 29, 2002, at a care facility in Provo. He was born August 22, 1917, in Payson, Utah, to Joshua L. and Daisy Gardner Ferris. LaVar married Elaine Ewell on April 19. 1943, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in 1958 in the Manti Temple. LaVar served in the TimberWolf 104th Infantry Infan-try during WWII in France, Germany and Belgium, also fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a high priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a secretary in the Elders Quorum. In his younger years, he liked to attend the temple. His nicknames nick-names were Shorty and Curly. LaVar worked at Geneva Steel as a crane operator for 32 years. When he was younger, he loved roller skating and was good at dance roller skating. LaVar was a Ford car enthusiast. enthusi-ast. He loved Western-style Western-style music, fishing, hunting, gardening, yard work, camping, teasing grandchildren, yodeling and yelling at the neighbor's neigh-bor's dogs. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, two sons and two daughters: Bonnie Perkins (Salem, UT); Rennie and Esther Ferris (Spanish Fork, UT); Nancy and Bill Haines (Mapleton, UT); Terry and Carolee Ferris Dorothy E. Willis Dorothy Elizabeth Ramser Willis, 88, of Springville, Utah, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2002, of causes incident to age. She was born on February 20, 1914, in Wellsville, Ohio, to Clara Litton and Fred Ramser. She married Howard E. Willis on April 14, 1934, in Garfield Gar-field Heights, Ohio. Howard and Dorothy moved their family to Springville in 1943. Dorothy was an active member of the Springville Spring-ville Community Presbyterian Presby-terian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Barbara Martain; and one son, John H. Willis. A memorial service was held at the Springville Spring-ville Community Presbyterian Presby-terian Church on Friday, July 26, under the direction direc-tion of Reverend George H. Lower.
