They handily defeated the building program from Provo. The captains of the team presented a first place trophy tro-phy that they earned earlier in the year to the Athletic Director Cathy Jarvis. She will in turn give it to the Administration where it will be displayed in the trophy case. The J.V. also had several wins against the Provo squad. The team as a whole have shook off the Christmas break and are starting to become focused for the state meet. This week the Devils will travel to American Fork to square off against the Cavemen in another Regional Duel Meet. The Cavemen are a good team and have improved from last year. The meet will be on Wednesday with the J.V. starting at 5:30 and Footnotes by Matthew G. Ollerton, DPM Toenail FungusFungus infections of the nail are caused by microscopic parasitic organisms organ-isms that live on the nail and tissues under the nail. It is important impor-tant to realize that as long as these nail infections are permitted to go on without proper treatment, treat-ment, spread of the fungi from' nails to various skin areas is always a possibility. The fungi may be spread by the fingers by scratching, or by a towel to the scalp, palms, thighs, buttocks, groin, armpits or the back. One infection can also lead to another. When fungi spread from a nail to the skin, other organisms, such 1 as bacteria, may grow with the fungi. Thus, so-called "mixed" infections result. Fungus nail infections are also contagious and can be transmitted to other persons. per-sons. How does the fungus affect the nail? As the fungi continue to grow through nail tissue, the nail is weakened. It becomes brittle and easily cracked or broken.. Larger and larger cavities are eaten out of the nail substance. Nail growth becomes abnormal and may lead to ingrown nails. The nail will thicken and may be lost altogether. An unpleasant odor, usually noticeable to others, oth-ers, may be associated with such infections. Band vnv pushing the Varsity at 7. The team will travel to Kamas for the Hi-Country Classic on Saturday. They start wrestling at 9 a.m. and will go most of the day. This is a very good tourney to wrap up the season before they start region. They will see several sever-al teams from across the state and hope to bring home another team trophy. The J.V. Wrestler of the Week is Brandon Ratcliffe. He is a great young man with a lot of wrestling experience. He faced two wrestlers from Timpview and pinned both of them! Coaches expect him to place in the region tourney and go to state. The Varsity Wrestler of the Week is Spencer Lifferth. Spen-j Spen-j cer has wrestled for several years. He is returning from a knee injury and it is good to see him back. He pinned his man from Timpview and the team needs him back in the line-up. Why does treatment for fungus fun-gus nail infections take so long? As you may know, weeks are required for a fingernail to grow only a quarter of an inch. Toenails Toe-nails grow even more slowly. As they grow, the parts of the nail structure damaged by fungi are gradually "pushed" toward the end of the nail, where they can be removed painlessly. Healthy new nail growth will result in time, provided you have conscientiously consci-entiously followed instructions for treatment. You have to be patient, painstaking and very persistent for the very reason that nails grow so slowly. You must remember that many months may be required to bring the infection under control, but your persistence will prove valuable when you can finally note an improvement in the appearance ap-pearance of your nails... and be free from the risk of spreading ; infection. ' Come see Dr. Matthew Ollerton Oller-ton at the Art City Foot & Ankle Clinic to see if there is a treatment treat-ment right for you. Call 491- ) FOOT to schedule an appoint- r ment.
