He makes a lot t, On October 14, the Springville High School of big plays on defense and on Girls X-country Team qualified for the state special teams. il f meet being held today, October 22, at Sugar , House Park in Salt Lake. The meet last week was the region final where Anna Witney lead the team with an 11th place finish. Laura Finlayson was next coming in 15th. Jacque Sorenson was Springville's third runner. Shannon Shan-non Child was 4th. Fifth girl was Emily Olson followed by Maranda Williamson and Sara Walker. Bowling Report Early Bird Ladies October 13, 1997 League Standings Team Won Lost swim team The USS Springville Seals Swim Team is in full swing. They are still looking for good swimmers who wish to swim on the competitive side. They have competition meets scheduled through March 1998. the team works out each day Monday through Friday with some swimmers swim-mers practicing on Saturdays. Also, the team is selling the 1998 Happenings Books, and they are available at the pool for $18. Please stop by and pick up one or two to help the team. Swimming pool news A lifeguard training course is scheduled to run through the month of November at the Springville Spr-ingville Pool. The classes will run each Saturday, November 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 7:330 a.m. on with a break for lunch. If you are interested in signing sign-ing up for this course you must be 15 years of age or older and be able to pass the swimming test. You should be a fairly strong swimmers in freestyle and backstroke. The course is 30 hours and will include CPR and standard first aid. To register for the class call 489-2731 or for more informa tion. The girls were undefeated with a score of 9-0-1. The girls were awesome in their scoring scor-ing ability with 34 goals stored and only letting two goals slip by them. Alex Munk was named Defensive Defen-sive Player of the Week at SHS.5 Alex had a great game from his defensive end position in the win at Pleasant Grove. He led) the team in defensive points and intercepted a pass to set up a big touchdown. Jo Cutler 459 Individual High Game Betty Gonzales 189 Jo Cutler 183 Pat Applegate , 172 1 i The Springville Red Devils forced seven Pleasant Pleas-ant Grove turnovers but still had to hold on for a close Region 6 victory. PG held the Devils to 55 yards in the second half but the turnovers, including six interceptions, proved to be too much to overcome. The Devils are not 4-2 in region play (4-3 overall) and remain tied with Spanish Fork for second place.
