She was born May 4, 1907 in Spanish Fork to William O. and Jane Hales Jones. She married Eldon (Ike) Palfreyman, June 1, 1927 in Salt Lake City. He preceded her in death on June 25, 1970. She married Edward Aitken Thomas on February 14. 1979 in Provo. He preceded pre-ceded her in death November No-vember 11. 1991. Afton lived with the attitude that anything worth doing is worth doing well, and things to be done are not done the quickest way, but the best way. People had described her as a "Great "Lady." She was always a very kind and friendly person and enjoyed helping others in need. Afton enjoyed life to her fullest of which camping and fishing were her favorites. Growing up she worked with her dad on the farm until she finished high school. She was never Rayda Z. Our best friend, wife, mother, grandmother, grand-mother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter, daug-hter, Rayda Zufell Shepherd. Shep-herd. 59. left us for a time to visit and laugh with her two babies and other family who have gone before, on January 26. 1997. Our friend no longer suffers the pain of earthly earth-ly disease. And is. no doubt, reunited with her little dogs and other stray animals whom she could never turn away. Rayda is the lifelong companion of Moses H. Shepherd, Senior, whom she married on August 2, 1952 in Provo, Utah, and is die mother of nine children. She leaves for a while her husband of 44 years. Moses H. Thomas afraid of hard work. She always took her health very seriously and you could always find her walking her two miles a day somewhere around town. She would always use each spare moment doing detailed needle work or reading her favorite book. Afton stayed very involved with activities such as a high school special chorus group and a ladies quartet. She was also a charter member of the Springville Musettes. Music was her fascination. fascina-tion. She was a PTA president and a member of the SpringvilleMap-leton SpringvilleMap-leton Senior Citizens which was always a daily activity of which she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the DUP which she took pride in. Afton loved life and people and had a strong testimony of the gospel. She loved her family and they will miss her dear-ly. dear-ly.
