The bride-to-be is a graduate of Stevens-Henager College of Business and is currently employed at Utah Office Supply as an accounting clerk. She graduated from Springville High School in 1987. The prospective groom graduated from Springville High School and is presently employed at Bushman Press. The newlyweds will make their home in Provo. Rasmussen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hans William Rasmussen of St. George, on Thursday in the Manti LDS Temple. A reception will honor the couple that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Palmyra Stake Center located at 505 East 900 North in Spanish Fork. The event is open to all friends and relatives. Bridal attendants will be Janie Baldwin, Crystal Honholt, Kathie Shepherd, Cara Davis, Madalyn Rasmussen and Myrlene Rasmussen, with Miranda Tyree Davis as1 flower girl. Best man will be Ron Isaacson. The bride-elect graduated from Spanish Fork High School and Snow College. She is currently attending Utah State University majoring in elementary education. She served an LDS mission in the Osorno, Chile mission. Her fiance graduated from Dixie High School and Dixie College. He serve an LDS mission in the Geneva, Switzerland mission. I "V L v Senior news The Springville-Mapleton Senior Citizens are planning a trip to the Castle Valley Pageant August 5 and 6. The trip will include the motel at Price, a lamb barbecue at Castle Valley and the pageant. The second day, the group will travel to Goblin Valley, Capital Reef, dinner at Bicknell and travel home. Seniors should call for reservations no later than July 10. Call 489-4369 if you plan to go. The price is $40. The Senior Center will be closed through the month of July. It will be back in full force on August 1. Jentri Don Hatfield, daughter of Craig and Betty Hatfield of Springville, turned one year old on July 5, 1988. I.miu.11 iiimi I I .ill ,i g 0 David Gardner, right with his wife Susan, spoke to the Springville Kiwanis Club Thursday. Ed Thomas, and wife Afton, are at left. Ed was the toastmaster. Mr. Gardner is director of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for Utah State Social Services. Over 600 volunteers in this group perform services for senior citizens with transportation or in some skilled project. Last year 150,000 tasks were performed by these volunteers without cost to the taypayer. Thursday evening the club will honor the memory of Irving Berlin's popular music. All members and partners are invited. K '! f - ( 1 Hi 1 . t " v '-' r ; V I A Normal and Betty Suth 50 years ago. r i cll "" if I , - J I V l f ?. v f -J .V ,f r ' 'vi Normal and Betty Suth and a Granddaughter, today. 50 years together Long time residents of Springville, Normal and Betty Suth celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last month at a family dinner party at their home, June 13, 1988. Their son and daughter and their families gathered at the family home to surprise their parents on this special occasion. Their daughter-in-law and family who could not come sent tapes. Norm and Betty have been in business on North Main Street across the street from the American Savings building selling and manufacturing jewelry, Indian items and gifts. Norm was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and moved to Oakland, California, after high school. He is the son of Lilie Mae Williams and Elmer J. Suth. Betty was born in Hannibal, MO, the daughter of James D. Morgan and Elizabeth Silvers, and also moved to Oakland, where she and Norm met and were married. Norm noted that several of their friends at the time said it would not last, meaning their marriage, and Norm said "What did they know?" After their marriage Norm and Betty lived in Richmond, California, where Norm managed a restaurant business and started working with jewelry as a hobby. They were also very active in business and civic affairs during this time. Betty notes that she was a dancer in those days and knew several stars of that era including Rosemary Clooney. They finally sold their business and moved to Springville seventeen years ago purchasing the home and property where they presently reside. They had three childen, two boys and a girl. One of the boys was killed in an accident in Indonesia where he was working in an oil field.
