Their homecoming will be held on Sunday, January IK, 1987 in the Maplcton First Ward at 2:45 p.m. Hobble CreeEi District Fellowship Banquet The annual Hobble Creek District Fellowship Banquet will be held Friday, January 30, 1987. This awards banquet is being held at the new 21st and 22nd Ward Chapel at 235 East 550 North in Springville at 6:30 p.m. The banquet meal will be catered by Sanford's Catering. All scouters involved in Cub, Boy, Varsity, and Explorer scouting will want to be in attendance. District Award of Merit and Second Miler Awards will be presented to deserving scouters in the district for outstanding service to the Boy Scouts of America aiid to the scouting programs here in Hobble Creek District over the past Norman R. Gividen, son of Harold and Bonnie Gividen of Mapleton, has returned home after serving a mission in Maracaibo, Venezuela. His farewell will be held on Sunday, January 18, 1987 at 2:50 p.m., in the Springville Ninth Ward, 55 North Main. An open house will follow from 4 to 6 p.m. at G24 East 200 North. He is the grandson of B.R. and Verl Devenish of Springville and Mrs. Erma Hansen of Riverton. He will enter the MTC on February II. A Honor roll students Several Springville and Mapleton students attending college have achieved honor roll status for their work the first half of this school year. Worship 11 a.m. 8 6 p.m. U.S. Forest backpacking The U.S. Forest Service re-quirments re-quirments for Boy Scout Troops and Explorer Posts planning to undertake under-take a back packing trip in any U.S. Forest Service wilderness area have changed. The following requirements must be met in order to gain access to properties pro-perties under the jurisdiction of either the Forest Service, National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. In most forests in the Western Region, the standard BSA "Tour Permit" will be accepted as certification that the following requirements re-quirements have been met by the hiking party. Leaders must be certified in "advanced" "ad-vanced" First Aid, including CPR, Hypothermia and Hyperthermia (heat). The certification card should be carried by the Trek Leader(s). If the group is large, there should be two certified leaders. The following must be submitted to the Forest Service Supervisor or his representative prior to departure: depar-ture: A "Safety Plan" for the trek; a trek "Communication Plan"; and a day-by-day "Route Plan" for the trek. Seniors are invited to come out and take advantage ad-vantage of all the things offered at the center and just enjoy. The center is open Monday thrrough Friday and has a variety of activities including bowling, billiards, quilting, cards, ceramics, rug weaving, oil painting and bingo. The health screening clinic is open every Wednesday for those who need assistance. For seniors needing a complete physical examination reservations must be made in advance. ad-vance.
