Show Parent idea night slated at Parent Resource Center On Tuesdav evening .Tamtam on the Parent Resource Center will host a Parent Idea Night for parents of children with learning disabilities Ideas for parents to use in the home to help their children who might be experiencing learning difficulties will be shared in the session from 7:30to9p..m. Much interest was generated in the Shngerland method at the last meeting at the Parent Resource Center. A special testing session to determine learning styles will be given Dy uariene (Jhnstensen on Tuesday afternoon, January 20. An appointment must be made to take advantage of this program by phoning Cheryl Merrick at 489-9151 or Dianne Carr 489-4230. These particular tests are designed for those between the fifth grade and adult age levels. The Parent Resource Center is located at 175 South Main, phone 489-8200. Adult dances Robbins Living Center is sponsoring spon-soring the Spectacular Holiday Dances! Ten dances will be hosted throughout the coming year. These dances will be sponsored the week of major holidays. The first of these dances will be held on Saturday, February 14, 1987. It is the Sweetheart Ball. These dances will be held at Payson's new Recreation Center. (Formerly the Bon Ton). The dance hall is located at 700 South Main Street in Payson, from 7 to 10 p.m. and is opened to all adults. Wood SHS C-4 SPRINGVILLE AREA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS BATON f, KLAG TWIRLING CALLIGRAPHY COMPUTERS FOR KIDS COMPUTERS FOR HOME USE COOKING, Oriental DANCE, Ballet & Jazz DANCE, Creative & Ballet This class will focus on three subjects: twirling (using N.B.T.A. standards), stand-ards), gymnastics and jazz. Students will learn: 8 basic twirls, passes, rolls, tricks and tosses to energy inspiring music. Jazz steps, show cartwheels, somersaults, kicks and jumps will compliment the course. Instructor will be Brenda Terry (N.B.T.A. certified instructor, also U.D.T. affiliated), telephone 465-4412. On the beginner level, the basic italic alphabet will be taught. On the Intermediate level, several new alphabets will be taught with more emphasis on design. This class is for kids who are interested in learning how to program a computer and learning print show programs. This course will use APPLEWORKS to teach software uses and applications. Students will be able to work on Individual projects of their own choosing. Word processing, data base management and spread sheet applications will be included. Typical uses would be balancing a checkbook, budgeting, filing (names, numbers, recipes, inventory), form letters, mailing lists & labels, and any financial reports, information organization, correspondence or reporting. This class Is for those who are just beginning and want to learn the fundamentals of Oriental Cooking. Fee will be $15.00 per person or $25.00 per couple. This class will place an equal emphasis on formal ballet and modern jazz. Students will experience the five ballet positions, posture, barre exercises, exer-cises, battement, glissade, pile' and an introduction to point. Jazz work includes walks, ball ..changes, hitches, pulse, lunge and leaps. Instructor will be Brenda Terry' (N.B.T.A.' certified Instructor, also U.D.T. affiliated), affil-iated), telephone 465-4412. Classes will concentrate on locomotor skills. Sign up at Springville High Main Cym on Monday, January 19 at 3:30 pm. MODELING, Teen The modeling layout contains a class lecture, a beauty workshop and a modeling mini-class. Girls will learn about make-up fashion, hair, nails, turns, stairs, ramp, still work and beauty pageants. The class also offers a photo session (optional). A fashion show will conclude the class. DANCE, Tap & Jazz FOLK DANCING POM POM (3-6 yrs) POM POM (6-12 yrs) QUILTING RACQUETBALL RIDING & HORSEMANSHIP SEWING, Basic Pom Pom classes focus on gymnastics. Drill and jazz compliment and round the class. Basic rolls, cartwheels, splits, drill routines and jazz steps are choreographed to music. Children will learn teamwork, develop attention span, build poise and confidence and (above all) have fun. Pom Pom classes use glitter pom poms and are part of the Orem and Provo Rockettes Dance, Twirl and Pom Pom teams. The older class will advance at a faster pace and cover more advanced gymnastics and jazz course work; kicks, jumps, super jazz hand routines, tosses and pom poo passes. "Trip Around the World" will be the quilt top made in this class. The technique is strip piecing. You will be required to get your own material.
