Kent Linton, M.D., eye physician and surgeon is now available to see local patients on Wednesdays at the new Mountain View Professional Plaza, formerly the Springville Medical Center. Dr. Linton's main office is in the Mountain View East Professional Plaza, adjacent to Mountain View Hospital in Payson. Dr. Linton is an opthalmologist, a physician specializing in the anatomy, physiology and pathology of eyes. His practice includes routine eye exams, diabetic eye disease screening and follow-up, pediatric eye exams and care, cataract surgery with or without intraocular lens, and glaucoma treatments. Visits to an ophthalmologist depend largely on an individual's needs. Generally these guidelines should be followed: A preliminary eye screening should be made the first year of life by a pediatrician, family doctor or ophthalmologist. Normally a person should have an eye exam every two or three years, but over 40 years of age a glaucoma check should be done each year. This is a simple 5 minute exam. Upon examination the ophthalmologist will make specific recommendations to an individual as to how often he or she should have an eye exam. Also, blurring or haziness of vision, double vision or sudden decrease of vision are all symptoms for which an eye exam is indicated. Appointments at Mountain View Professional Plaza located at 730 East 300 South in Springville can be made by calling 489-5658. 5 Dr. Kent Linton Leslie Bloomfield will celebrate her first birthday February 24, 1985 with her parents, Wesley and Larcy Thorn Bloomfield, and brothers and sisters. For example, if you're overweight, insurance statistics indicate you have a shorter life span than someone who's thin. Being overweight also aggravates other medical conditions. Diabetes. Coronary heart disease. Kidney failure and strokes may also be related to being overweight. So isn't it time to start trimming down? Not by starving yourself, or going on a "fad"1 diet, but by realizing that weight loss is related to the calories you eat. When you consume more calories than your body can burn, you start gaining weight. Remember, it's the long term you're interested in, not immediate results. Set your goal a year, or two, or even three from now. Then aim for it. Consult your physician about an exercise program to accompany dieting, taking into consideration your physical condition, your age and your normal exercise pattern. You'll need it to help you lose weight. Our hospital has a vital interest in all the ways you take care of yourself. From our angle, overeating isn't one of them.
