Many remedies promise relief from arthritis ar-thritis pain, but deliver only hype and false hopes. Some unproven arthritis treatments can be extremely ex-tremely dangerous for you while others are relatively harmless. Nearly all are expensive, the Arthritis Foundation reports. The best defense against quackery is knowledge about your disease and your willingness to investigate before buying. Here are five tips to help you spot an arthritis quack or health huckster. Be suspicious of someone: offering formulas and devices which are "special" or "secret" promising or implying a quick, easy cure and miraculous physical improvement advertising with "case histories" and "testimonials" from satisfied customers, and not documenting claims with valid scientific test results claiming the government govern-ment and the medical community are deliberately not recognizing the "discovery" claiming that surgery, drugs or other traditional treatments prescribed by a physician are unnecessary. un-necessary. Offering instead in-stead ways of cleansing your body of "poisons" and "pepping up your health." There is no easy way to determine a fraud or quack, but if the claims sound too good to be true-they true-they probably are! Before investing in any new product, be sure to check with a qualified physician or a local Arthritis Foundation office. "Time is precious, but truth is more precious than time."
