We have felt a TOTAL change in our whole selves!" a lame puppeteer she meets, is more admirable than the glamorous magician Marco, who initially dazzles her with his tricks. The show, contains songs that, have become very popular with the public since the musical's debut in the '60s. Composer Com-poser Bob Merrill faced a stiff challenge when he set out to write the score for the play. It was his task to compose music that would rival the theme song from "Lili." The tune, "Hi-Lili, Hi-Lo," Hi-Lo," had been a big hit in the '50s and was still popular seven years after the film was released. Merrill overcame the problem, however, by composing a score that included a direct challenge to the hit film tune. The composer's song, a piece that is woven throughout the musical, is identified as "Theme from Carnival." Better known on the Hit Parade as "Love Makes the world Go Round," the song was even more popular than previous Merrill hits "How Much is MAY DIET for rm PRICE OF Bill and Linda Fairbanks Pleasant Grove ROCKY MOUNTAIN CAMIIY mCTITIITC 834 SOUTH STATE STREET 224-5160 OREM, UTAH That Doggy in the Window?" Win-dow?" and "If I Knew You Were Coming I Would Have Baked A Cake." Oaks said in addition to outstanding music, the play features some of the best work with puppets ever produced in a play. "It rivals what is done with the Muppets," he said. "Cris Bennion, noted puppet maker who recently made puppets for an Osmond special, has created the puppets that will be used in 'Carnival.' They will be a memorable part of the show." Cast members include Tracey Williams as Lili, David Wayne Nelson as Marco, Jim Perkins as Paul, and David Spencer as carnival owner B.F. Schlegel. Other major roles will be taken by Greg Greenwood, Patricia Tiffany, David Collette, Alan Hallmark and Elizabeth Moger. The show will also feature 32 singers and dancers. Tickets are currently on sale at the Theater Ticket Office of the Harris Fine Arts Center. |
