RCA pianist Floyd Cramer, whose distinctive playing style has been recognized throughout the world, has been signed to a career management and touring contract with Top Billing Inc. of Nashville. The Cramer style of playing, play-ing, the slurring or bending of notes, is a piano adaptation of an old country music technique used for years by guitarists. "You hit one note and slide almost simultaneously simultan-eously to another," he says. "It is a sort of near-miss on the keyboard. You don't hit the note you, intend to strike right off but you 'recover' instantly and then hit it. The result is a lonesome sound." Cramer's first single in 1960, a striking piano in-trumental in-trumental he wrote called 'Last Date,' and his second consecutive hit 'On the Rebound' established him as a top-notch composer. Co-headlining Co-headlining with Chet Atkins and Boots Randolph on the Masters Festival of Music Tours took him all over the United States and Canada and garnered him a reputation reputa-tion as a first-rate performer. Cramer has some 40 albums al-bums to his credit. His most recent, "Looking for Mr. Goodbar,' from the motion picture of the same name, |
