In earlier times shaving was very popular and nowadays the business is mainly centered around hair cutting. Miles even admits, "I became pretty good at shaving too." "We used to cut hair a lot shorter than we do now too, " he says. Most people would rather have longer hair; especially the young people and the business has witnessed a shift of customers because of it. The young people tend to patronize the beauty salons, he says. Miles usually cuts hair for the older men of the city and periodically he even cuts som women's hair. Springville has also changed considerably since Mr. Curfew has lived here. In the 34 years he has lived here, he says he has seen a lot of development of new businesses. Mr. Curfew is well past the age of retirement and he says he should retire but feels much better working and would go crazy without his barber shop and his work.
