Pre school near Springville Mrs. Young, 377-3939. 377-3939. j9tfc Ernest Simmons dies January 1 Ernest Fred Simmons, 75, of 750 North Atlantis Drive, Orem, died Wednesday morning Jan. 1, at Utah Valley Hospital of complications following surgery. He was born June 24, 1899 in Pinkneyville, Illinois, to Wiley and India A. Simpson Simmons. He married Delphia Elizabeth Wilson on Nov. 28, 1920 in Nevada, Texas. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan L.D.S. Temple. She died Jan. 9, 1958. Mr. Simmons married Hazel Piatt on July 26, 1968 in Evan-ston, Evan-ston, Wyoming. Mr. Simmons began working for Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad in 1927., retiring about nine years ago. He was active in the L.D.S. church being a High Priest in the Orem 10th ward. He was also a member of the Orem Senior Citizens. Survivors include his widow in Orem, and the following son, and three daughters-John W. Simmons, Sim-mons, Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Max L. (Faye) Dallin, Springville; Mrs. James L. (Glenna) Christensen, and Mrs. Sherry A rnsdorf, both of Upland, California; 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one stepdaughter, step-daughter, Mrs. Jim (Elda) Brailsford, Edgemont; 3 step-grandchildren. step-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 4, at 12:30 p.m. in the Orem 10th Ward Chapel under the direction of Bishop Howard Holman. Tadd Giles Services held for E. Tadd Giles on Wednesday E. Tadd Giles, 62, of Springville, died of natural causes at Payson City Hospital Jan. 11. He was born Oct.. 20, 1912 at Heber City, the son of Orson Edwin and Gladys Ethel Tadd Giles. He married Mildred Barker on April 5, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Giles was manager of the-supply the-supply department for Mountain Bell in Provo prior to his retirement. In his earlier life he was active in the Boy Scouts of America. He was past president of Hobble Creek Riding Club and enjoyed outdoor activities. Survivors include his widow and three daughters; Mrs. Jim (Loretta) Blackett; Mrs. Glen (Ardith) Ruff and Mrs. Taylor (Barbara) Thorpe, all of Springville; 10 grandchildren; one brother and six sisters; Milton B. Giles, Mrs. Nello (Zella) Rowley, Mrs. Olive Noakes, Mrs. Wallace (Lottie) Gurr, Mrs. Marvin (Ila) Naylor and Mrs. Eugene (LaWanna) Gurr, all of Springville; and Mrs. David (Audrey) Riches, Salem. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Springville Stake Center. Bishop C. O. Ward of the 16th ward officiated. Burial was in Springville Evergreen Cemetery. Hurst, 68, Mapleton, was dead on arrival Jan. 9 at Payson City Hospital following a heart attack suffered at his home. Mr. Hurst was born April 20, 1906 in Dublin, Mexico, the son of Walter Fredrick and Hannah Anderson Hurst. He married Ada Esther Busk on Oct. 7, 1925 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Hurst spent the early part of his life in Idaho, moving to Mapleton in 1932. He was a farmer, carpenter and millwright. Active in the LDS Church, he was a high priest and a temple ordinance worker. Survivors include his widow, three sons and four daughters, Robert Dean Hurst, Walter Fredrick Hurst and Mrs. Roger (Margene) Farnworth, all of Mapleton; Mrs. Colleen H. La r sen and Mrs. Bill (JoAn) Ertell, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Rodney L. (Yvonne) Burt, Springville, and Kenneth Craig Hurst, Laketown, Rich County; one brother and five sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Hannah) Bohne, Fairview; Mrs. Fern Whitney, Pleasant Grove; Mrs. LaVell (Lora) Bird, Mapleton; Vard Hurst, Mrs. Arnold (Silvia) Wright and Mrs. Lola Beck, all of Ogden. Redwood Road, Salt Lake City, who died of a heart ailment Saturday in a Salt Lake City hospital, were Wednesday at noon at Deseret Mortuary, 36 E. 700 S. Mrs. Bailey was the sister of Mrs. Howard (Ruby) Smith, Springville. She was born Dec. 9, 1890 in Fountain Green, Sanpete County, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Wilson Green. She married Edward Bailey on July 28, 1907 in Manti, and the marriage was solemnized later in the Manti LDS Temple. He died on Sept. 24, 1957. Mrs. Bailey's nine sons all served in the U.S. Armed Forces, For-ces, six of them in World War II and three in the Korean War. Survivors include seven sons and one daughter, Don B. Bailey, Harold M. St., a former Democratic state legislator and minority leader of the Utah House of Representatives from 1946 to 1950, died of a stroke Monday in a Salt Lake City nursing home. He was 67 years old. Mr. Anderson was appointed to the House in 1946 to fill a vacancy from Utah County. He was elected to a second term in 1948, and picked by Democrats to lead the minority party for that term. He retired from the House in 1950. Besides his political activities, Mr. Anderson was a civil engineer for Dugway Proving Grounds. He retired from the Utah State Highway Department Depart-ment as a resident engineer. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in Germany. He attended Springville schools in Utah County and attended the University of Utah and Brigham Young University. Mr. Anderson was born July 7, 1907, in Philadelphia, Pa. He was the son of Dr. George A. and Nellie Jacob Anderson. He married Helen Lasson May 23, 1934, in the Salt Lake Temple, she later died. He married Naomi Zundel Oct. 15, 1951, in Salt Lake City. The marriage later was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Mr. Anderson is survived by his widow, two sons, and four daughters: Lynn M., Marsh,-Elaine, Marsh,-Elaine, Shelly, all of Salt Lake City; Lee, Pleasant Hills, Calif., and Mrs. Douglas (Donna): Petersen of Gunnison, Sanpete County. Also surviving are three" grandchildren and a sister, D' Hazel Loewenstein, Terre Haute, Ind. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 9, in the Ensign .1 second Ward. Burial was in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. M.
