Nothing is more delicious or nutritious say these 4-H'ers, than a tall, cool ice cream float, lemon custard pie, or a tasty dip for snack-ing. snack-ing. Or try a riiain dish meal, like macaroni and cheese to enjoy dairy foods and to help conserve the family budget. These and scores of other dishes use dairy products, and 4-H'ers in the 4-H dairy foods program, are well experienced in preparing these and other mouth watering delights. Sponsored by Carnation Company, young people in the program also learn how dairy foods contribute to nutrition. Informing young people and others in the community com-munity about nutritious dairy foods and how to prepare different dairy treats are among the activities 4-H'ers perform in the program. ' Rich in calcium, protein, riboflavin and relatively low in calories milk and dairy foods can brighten a meal and do it economically, too. Pam Stewart, of Florence, Miss., one of the 1972 national winners in the program, pro-gram, discovered that preparing prepar-ing hundreds of dairy foods dishes for her family. Not only are dairy foods economical, econom-ical, says Miss Stewart, but there are so many meal ideas to create. Carnation Company provides pro-vides incentive and recogni tion to young people in the 4-H dairy foods program. Up to four medals of honor are offered to county winners, and an expense-paid trip to National 4-H Congress in Chicago, Nov. 25-29, goes to a winner in each state. At the national 4-H event, six national winners receive $700 scholarships from the company. For more information on the national 4-H dairy foods program arranged by the National 4-H Service Committee, Commit-tee, contact the county extension office.
