From the files 10 years ago. .. . Installed at the annual Chamber of Commerce banquet Friday night at the Westside Elementary school were Wilber Snelson, manager of J.C. Penney's store here, president; Jim Damico, vic-president; and the following directors, J. Melvin Duke. Milan Packard, CO. Ward, George Wright, Bill Ruff, Martin Conover and Jim Peay. Holdover directions were Kelly Jensen, LaVell . Brown, Don Robertson, Floyd Stewart and Mays Anderson. . James Olsen, who is presently attending dental school in Kansas, has been awarded his Master M-Men Award. His brother, Ben Olsen, received it for him at the Sunday evening program. He gradutated from BYU before going East to school. Farewells are set for two Springville men, Richard J. Child and John C. Blanchard. Richard, the son of Earl and Lois Child has been called to the New Zealand South LDS Mission from the Seventh Ward. His farewell will be Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the Springville Stake House. He will enter the Mission home February. John, son of Mr. and Mis. Donald Blanchard, has received a mission call to the West German Mission and will be honored at a farewell in the Eighth Ward January 26 at 4:30 p.m. He will enter the mission home on February 3. Connie Whiting, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Niel Whiting of Mapleton, came home for the weekend. She is enrolled in school at the USU, Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Richard M. Sheeley (Carol) and little daughter, Mary, left recently to make their home in Pearl River, New York. Richard, a former resident of Pennsylvania, recently completed requirements for his PhD in chemistry at BYU and is doing research work in medicine for Lederdle Laboratories. Carol is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.N. Moon of Springville. Mrs. Margeret Pherson reviewed the book "Travels with Charley", by Steinbeck at the meeting of the Cultural Arts Club, Wednesday evening of last week, when Mrs. LaVern Larson was hostess. One of the lovely social events of the mid-winter seasons was the wedding and reception for Mr. and Mrs. Leon Bleggi, in the Fourth Ward church. The bride is the former Miss Judy Tipton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Tipton, and Leon is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Angelo Bleggi, also of Springville. Las Chaquitas Bonitas held a "come as you are" party last week at the home of Barbara Mortensen in Mapleton.
