With choirs, chamber groups, and soloists, the orchestra gives more than 3000 concerts annually in schools, factories, and holiday centers in Poland in addition to the schedule of international tours. Witold Rowicki, conductor of the sumphony sinch 1950, will not conduct this tour as a result of a disabling heart attack. " commented Dr. Charles Metten on his upcoming up-coming theater-in-the-round production of Moliere's "The Miser" at Brigham Young University. Translated by Dr. John A. Green, professor of French at BYU in a delightfully digestible form. The play will be presented Jan. 25-26, 30-31; Feb 1-2, 6-9 in the Margetts Arena Theater in the Harris Fine Arts Center. Performance time is 8 p.m. and tickets go on sale at the Drama Ticket Office on Jan. 18. Dr. Metten describes Moliere's genius as his ability to write with an "open, free, sparkling feeling." The same could be said for this production. The actors are dressed in the styles of today and begin thier performance seated in the audience. The actors have no set to cope with and obtain variety in movements through a few simple pieces of furniture. The Miser, Harpagon, is played by Dr. Green, the translator. He tried out for the part because he felt he looks like the perfect Miser, though he does not agree with the Miser's philosophy. Dr. Green does admit, "We will find enough of the Miser in each of us to give meaning to the clash of lovers and the Miser." Our lovers who affairs reach crisis level as a result of the Miser's intervention are Har-pagon's Har-pagon's daughter, Elise, played by both Heather Hunter and Vickie Pauline Julian, Har-pagon's Har-pagon's son, Cleante, played by Larkin Le Sueur, Valere (in love with Elise) played by Tom Bay, Men's & Boys9 JACKETS Our Entire Selection of Jackets at Prices You Have Been Waiting For! - 50 off COATS AND JACKETS Every one reduced.
