Hard luck dogs battling Red Devils as Rancho Rams forge 25-13 win Hard luck dogged the footsteps of the Springville Red Devils on the Rancho High School football field at Las Vegas Saturday, as they bowed to their host 25-13. The SHS team battled stubbornly, stub-bornly, but breaks converted into TD's spelled their defeat. Statistically the game was very even, but the Rams were able to grab opportunities and turn them into scores too many times. A red Devil fumble on the first play 14 yards out set up the first Ram score, and quarterback quar-terback John Annillo used it well to push the ball into pay dirt. He made the tally with 11:34 left in the first quarter. Springville's Jerry Holdaway, a rugged ISO pound tailback, ripped off numerous gains as he controlled the ball for the rest of the initial quarter. Gary Christen-sen's Christen-sen's kick was good for the conversion and put the Devils into a 7-6 lead. Rancho roared back to launch a 66 yard drive in four minutes, setting things up for their second score. Again it was Annillo who pushed the pigskin across, this time from four yards out. The Rams struck again minutes later when Darrell Beavers took the ball and sprinted to paydirt from 34 yards out. Springville continued to gain yardage throughout the game, but couldn't make it to paydirt again until the final five minutes of play. After holding the ball for over five minutes in a driving series of ground-eating plays, the Red Devils scored again. Holdaway was their chief bulldozer in this sprint to the goal line and it was ' Holdaway who ripped through the Rams from seven yards out to make the Devils second and final TD of the game.
