Compared with some of the large banking bank-ing Institutions our four Utah County offices may look rather smalL Central Bank is not one of the giants. With careful planning we never will be. You see, Central Bank was born In Utah County. We grew up here. Most of our employees were raised in this valley. Because of this we have decided to remain a Utah County bank. We believe that by remaining remain-ing here we will be able to add to the economy and A report from the city auditor and discussion of water drainage problems headlined the latest meeting of the Mapleton City Council. Studies were drainage matters concerning the southwest south-west portion of the city. Water meter fees were also reviewed. Freeman Bird, acting as spokesman for approximately 20 citizens at the meeting, cited the drainage problem and indicated that the drain ditches are plugged since the water table is excessively high this year, causing flooding of basements and creating a sanitary problem. Since the city irrigation company board was meeting in the building at the same, time, the board members were invited into the council meeting to disucss the problem. Councilman Collin Allan was appointed to represent the council on a special committee along with Russel Walpole from the irrigation company. They were to select a third member from the citizens group. The three-men committee was insturcted to meet immediately to formulate plans to solve this problem. Kent Wheeler was instructed to utilize city employees em-ployees and equipment to alleviate as much of the problem as possible. After Jay ' M. Smith, city auditor presented the annual report, it was noted that changes in the anticipated revenue sharing funds for fiscal 1973-74 have required some adjustments. ad-justments. Council members therefore unanimously decided to reduce the Center Street improvements budget by $2,000 and reduce the budget for the Mapleton Canyon water project by $2,337 to meet the adjustment. Council also voted to approve the audit fee of $650 and noted a certificate of appreciation will be issued to Mr. Smith. Don Korth reviewed the change in water meter fees which became effective July 1 and council decided that WE'RE NOT AND TRUTHFULLY SPEAKING WE DON'T CARE TO BE TOO BIG Gio U$A Chanct CENTRAL BANK & TRUST COMPANY MapUton, Springvillt, Provo (2) and Soanish Fork structures for which building permits were issued before July 1 could pay the old rate while those issued after July 1 would involve the new rate. Mr. Korth stated that a form letter will be attached to building permit applications to explain city policy on water lines. Council also was asked to consider citizens who could fill the vacancy on the board of adjustment created by the resignation of Lavell Bird. Recommendations are expected at the next meeting. Ted Livingston, Region Four director for the Law Enforcement En-forcement Planning Agency, discussed supplemental funding for the organization and recommended this funding be shared by the cities involved.
