Show OBITUARIES Hums. j.-r.. 1 "! John Robert Sayer Farm accident claims life of Mapleton man A Mapleton man was killed Friday in a farm accident. John Robert Sayer, 54, of 153 N. 1600 W., was working in a silo when the silage collapsed and buried him. He died of suffocation. suf-focation. Mr. Sayer was born July 10, 1917 in Rigby, Ida , a son of John Richard and Margaret Green. He married Irma Holley on Oct. 7, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A graduate of Rigby High School and Brigham Young University, Mr. Sayer served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in Europe. He moved from Idaho to Utah in 1935. He was a member of Mapleton Lions Club, charter member of the National Farmers Union, member of National Lamb Feeders Association and former member of the Mapleton Jaycees. Mr. Sayer had received an award from the National Feed Lot Magazine for outstanding feed lot practices, and was the meat board chairman of the National Farmers Organization. Survivors include his widow, two sons and two daughters, Margaret, Marty and Jeanie Sayer, all of Mapleton, and Robert Sayer, Springville; two grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, LaMar Sayer, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Harold (Gayle) Williams, Upland, Calif., and D. Ray Sayer, Springville. Funeral services were held Tuesday at noon in the Linde-Mortuary, Linde-Mortuary, Spanish Fork, with . Bishop Collin Allan officiating. Burial was in the Springville Evergreen cemetery. Ottesons attend grandson's rites Dr. and Mrs. L. E. Otteson returned home this week after attending funeral services of a grandson, Mitchell M. Otteson, five, in California. The boy succumbed to leukemia. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. L. James Otteson, of Palos Verdes, California. His maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clifton McBride. Springville 489-6681 Funeral Saturday for native of Mapleton Guy LeRoy Wilson, 83, of Mapleton, died May 1, 1973 in a Payson City hospital of natural causes. He was born May 20, 1889 at Canistota, South Dakota the son of George Washington and Eliza Jane Tarrell Wilson. He was married to Marguerite Denniss March 19, 1918 at Malad, Idaho. She died in 1947. He was married to Ina Pauline Haws May 3, 1948 in Salt Lake City. She died in 1956. He then married Ruth H. Ottesen Dec. 14, 1957 at Mapleton. He is a retired farmer and sheepman, a member of the L.D.S. Church. Surviving is his wife of Mapleton, three sons and three daughters, Guy Eldon and LeNoy D. Wilson, both of Springville, Utah; Merrill D. Wilson, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Mrs. Ben A. (Darlene) Williams, Ogden, Utah; Mrs. Melvin W. (Margaret) Thorton, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. George E. (Irma Fae) Wilson, Roy, Utah; 29 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, William Albert Taylor, American Fork, Utah, and the following stepchildren, Mrs. Nolan (Margaret) Greenhalgh, Seattle, Washington; Marion Ottesen, Long Beach, Calif.; Hubert Ottesen, Payson, Utah; Elmo Ottesen, Granger, Utah and Mrs. Burt (Flora) Alispach, Orem, Utah. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Springville First-Twelfth L.D.S Ward Chapel. Bishop Russell Walker of the Mapleton 2nd Ward will officiate. Friends may call at the Wheeler Mortuary, Mor-tuary, Springville, Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. or Saturday prior to the service. Burial will be in the Provo City cemetery. Ence, 74 Funeral services will be held Saturday May 5 at 2 p.m. for Alice Sanford Ence at the Springville 14th Ward Chapel, 451 South Main. Viewing will be at the Wheeler Mortuary Friday from 7 until 9 p.m. and Saturday from 12 noon until time of the services. She died Wednesday, at Utah Valley Hospital. Mrs. Ence was born November 24, 1901 to Arthur V. and Mary Ellen Mendenhall Sanford in Springville, Utah. She lived with her family at Starr, Utah for several years while she was growing up and moved to Springville for high school where she graduated in 1921. She also attended BYU where she graduated with a normal degree. She taught elementary school in Sutherland, Utah for two years. On May 28, 1924, she was married to N. Arvel Ence in Provo, Utah. The Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. After their marriage they made their . home in Springville. Her husband died June 6, 1969. Survivors include one son, Paul S. Ence, Overland Park, Kansas; two daughters, Elaine (Mrs. Orson) Tolman, American Fork, and Mary Louise E. Brereton, Orem; 12 grandchildren, grand-children, and two brothers and two sisters, Howard Sanford, Springville; and I. Eugene Sanford, Spanish Fork; Carrie S. Jolley, Salt Lake City; and Helen (Mrs. Movell) Day, Oakland, California. Mrs. Ence was an active member of the' Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She taught Primary in the First Ward and was secretary of the YWMIA, and served on the Genealogical Committee, and also served in both the First and Second Ward as secretary-treasurer secretary-treasurer of the Relief Society. She also served as work counselor coun-selor in the Second Ward Relief Society presidency. Since December of 1964 she has been a member of the Relief Society quilting committee and was at the time of her death, chairman of that committee and was a visiting teacher in the Relief Society. She was noted for her many beautiful quilts and other handiwork. He was born Aug. 28, 1915 at Cardston, Alberta, Canada the son of Walter Edward and Nellie Hinman Pitcher. He was married to Ina Miner Oct. 3, 1939 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Mr. Pitcher was active in the L.D.S. Church in Calgary and Ontario, Canada. Surviving is his wife of Don Mills, one son and three daughters, Brent Pitcher, Provo, Utah; Mrs. Norman (LeAnne) Davis, Riverton, Utah; Joan and Nancy Pitcher, both of Don Mills and four grandchildren.
