He is six foot, six Inch Pf c. William E. Reeder of Sulphur Springs, Tex., who used to hurl for Shreveport. He is now -an acting sergeant in a front line infantry in-fantry outfit. Capt. Lauren K. Soth of Ames, Iowa, a public relations officer for the 06th division, told the story. Soth said he was on the front line today and saw Reeder wind up and "heave a grenade downhill down-hill at least 85 yards" in an effort ef-fort to knock out a Jap mortar. "He threw those grenades as though they were baseballs' Soth ' said.
