Annual Ball Is Gala Fete One of the gayest parties of the pre-holiday season was neld Friday evening by members, partners and guests of the 411th Composite Alrforce Squadron. The annual affair was under the direction of Capt. E. A. Markie, with Major Paul A. Simmons in charge of arrangements. A large crowd of guests gathered gath-ered to enjoy the dancing and tefreshments furnished during the evening. Special musical selections se-lections were part of the entertainment. enter-tainment. Decorations foil owed the Christmas theme. with white snow flakes sparkling on drapes and colors of holiday theme predominated pre-dominated in serving appointments. appoint-ments. Home Rites Wed Couple y One of the lovliest weddings of early winter took" place when Etta Roberts became the bride of Wendell M. Hancock at the home of the bride'i parents In Provo. Standing before an altar of ca thedral candles and arrange ments, the young couple ex changed vows with Pres. James F. Paramore pronouncing the rites. The bride's father gave her In marriage. Etta was lovely in a gown of traditional white satin, entrain, fashioned with a fitted bodice and long pointed sleeves. A lace yoke and peplum provided con trast for the outfit Her finger tip veil of bride's illusion lelH from a crown of seed pearls, and the bridal bouquet was of white "mums and roses w-" n large orchid in the center. Satin streamers tied the blossoms. Tne diamond wrist watch worn by the bride was a gift from the groom. Mrs. Ralph Herson attended her sister as matron of honor, , wearing a blue sequin trimmed I dinner dress, with matching corsage. cor-sage. Erva Roberts, Norma Bab-cock, Bab-cock, Vonda Sheen and Dorothy Walker were bridesmaids. Iheyi were attired in formals of pink I and blue, with corsages of gardenias. gar-denias. Eugene Hancock was best man for the groom, a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Hancock, while Jack Roberts and Ray Sorensen acted lis ushers. The bride's mother, Mrs. Leon Roberts, wore ; gray dinner dress trimmed with sequins, and the mother of the groom .vine green. Each chose a corsage of gardenias. Following the ceremony a reception re-ception was held at the golf club house, where about 250 friends and relatives extended good wishes to the newly weds. Assisting in the receiving line were the bride and groom with their attendants, and parents of the pair. Following a honeymoon in California and Mexico, the young couple will make their home in Provo. Plans To Wed Pair Sets Announced Date To Wed Of interest to her Provo friends is announcement of the engagement engage-ment and approaching marirage of Sylvia Carolyn Durrant, formerly of, Provo, now of Meridian, Idaho. :She plans to wed Loren Gene Calkins, also of Meridian, Wednesday Wed-nesday in the Idaho Falls, LDS temple. Following nuptial rites the young couple will spend a few days visiting friends and relatives rela-tives in Utah. The bride-to-be is a dauchter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Clar-ence H. Durrant. who will fete the newlyweds at a reception in I the Meridian ward LDS chapel Dec. 20. The couple will make their home in Twin Falls, Ida. Mrs. J. H. Durrant, Provo. grandmother of the bride-elect, i will be hostess, along with Mrs. Romantic news is spotlighted on Betty DeGraw and Martin Simon-son Simon-son this week. They have announced an-nounced their engagement and approaching marriage, which is scheduled to take place some time in February. The bride-to-be is a daughter of Mrs. Stella DeGraw of Spanish Fork, and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Henry M. Simonson of Idaho Falls, Ida., Miss DeGraw is employed now in Spanish Fork, while Mr. Simonson is a student at BYU. He is a veteran of 18 months with the army overseas.
