The ritual, Scouts Own, for this season will have been completed com-pleted with the singing of "Taps" and the girls will have repeated the customary "May the great Scout Master above us be with us 'til we meet again. Good-night, Scout," and some of them will feel a little will cry. When a Girl Scout is asked what makes' the camp so much fun, she looks at you "Well, you Just do so many things; it's just fun, that's all." After further thought she might list the steady sequence of activities: activi-ties: hikes, song fests, arts and crafts, campcraft. She might list the heady mountain atmosphere of the camp, which is located at an elevation of 7000 feet, in South Fork, Provo Canyon, and covers 120 acres of wooded land. . The ' novel experiences of being be-ing almost "on your own" while living at camp, and of eating food prepared over a fire could contribute con-tribute to the satisfaction derived by the girls. Of course not a single scout would deny that camp cook, Mrs. Wallace Gurr, can rival any yes, any cooking in the newly equipped electric camp kitchen. The camp is a result of years of effort on the part of scout leaders; lead-ers; particularly Mrs. Byron Nelson, Nel-son, better known as "Pepper" by girl scouts, and Mrs. Ray Coffee, Cof-fee, Provo girl scout council president. pres-ident. jiX. , Provo Elks have contributed much to the success of the camp by making it their project for this year to sponsor the improvement of the camp site. Under their supervision su-pervision the new kitchen . was completed and an infirmary has been built. Sanitation facilities and new showers for the girls have also been Installed through the efforts of the Elks, in addition addi-tion to a large, outdoor fireplace and barbecW pi&vlvi "Of course,' Mrs. Coffee sayi. "a great deal of our help came from civic-minded individuals who were- wiling to. donate their ! time." Many business houses have donated equipment also."" C-n to all girls, the non-sec-Urwan camp is sponsored and staffed , by the Girl Scouts of America. The girls came in the majority from 18 troops' now active ac-tive In Provo and from surrounding surround-ing communities and few from out of state. .. Mrs. Coffee estimates that 30 Brownies the youngest girls in scouting, aged 7 te 10 and 123 Intermediate and senior scouts have been registered for the camn this year. - ; The camp organization Is com plete and efficient with Its ex perienced staff working smoothly smooth-ly at all times. At very top is unit leader Robin Wool-sey, Wool-sey, called "Sparky" by girls at camp. last regular Sunday evening choked in fact some of them and says, a little uncertainly, turned to Provo for the camp season. Friendly Mrs. Jack Manning is camp nurse, and is on duty at all times, making constant check on the health of her young charge3. She has at tier disposal the new infirmary. In addition to these vivid per sonalities who are a vital factor in the success of the camp should be mentioned the unit leaders and program aides. Every unit leader must be over 21 years of age and has direct supervision over 16 scouts in a unit. Proeram aides or assistant unit leaders may De 18 years of age, and. are two in each unit. v Camp rule is that all leaders must have nicknames, the theorv being that informality will make tne necessary close supervision and discipline more effective with the girls, as indeed it does.
