Show Truman Names 10 Delegates WASHINGTON, Sept 13 U.R President Truman today - named 10 U. S. delegates to the second general conference of the United Nations educational, scientific and cultural organization. A- The conference of -31 nations. aimed at Improving international relations through education, will be held In Mexico City from Nov; 0 through Dec. 3. The conferees plan to study particularly the -causes of discord between nations and hope to remove "obstacles to the free flow of ideas and ma terials.". Assistant secretary of state Wil 11am Benton heads the U. S. dele cation which includes: Milton Eisenhower, chairman of the U. S. national commission for UNESCO and president of Kansas state college; Laurence Duggan, director of the Institute of Inter national Education; Helen White, University of Wisconsin professor, and Reuben uustavsom Univer sity of Nebraska chancellor. Others are Charles S. Johnson, Fisk university president; Anna Rosenberg, public and labor relations re-lations consultant; George Stoddard. Stod-dard. University of Illinois presi dent; Howard E. Wilson, Carne gie endowment for international peace, and Qetlev Bronk, chair man of the national .research council. Sparks from the tower blaze started a brush and grass fire half a mile away which after destroying more than five acres .was brought under partial control con-trol at noon. Duo-Murder Motive May Be Robbery . TORONTO. Sept. 13 (U.R) Rob bery was suggested today as the motive for the auto trunk murders mur-ders of a beautiful 21-year-old blond art student and a 39-year old father whose bodies were found stuffed into the rear com partment of a coupe parked in a lonely lovers lane in High Park. The victims were Iris Scott, whose friends said neither smoked nor drank, and George Vigus, married and the father of two grown children. Both had been strangled. Police said vigus wrist watch and wallet and Miss Scott's purse were missing and they worked on the theory that robbery was the motive for the double slaying, Police admitted that they had no suspects, but they said between 50 and 60 persons, mostly friends of the victims, would be ques tloned., An autopsy, performed yester day shortly after the bodies were found, showed that Vigus, a To ronto paper box company execu tive, had been gar rot ed with rope. But the marks on Miss Scott's chin and nck indicated she had been beaten and stran gled, Chief Coroner Smirle Law- son reported. Police said Miss Scott, who was noted for her beautiful blond hair, had known Vigus for some time. Woodruff, Cleveland, president of the Erie railroad, told an interstate commerce commission commis-sion freight rate hearing that the 1 railroads now are "not receiving la fair living wage." I - Woodruff said the railroads are I earning less than half the amount they should to meet their obligations obliga-tions to the public: The ICC is holding hearings on the railroads' request for an immediate im-mediate "interim" 10. per cent increase in-crease in freight rates, pending final action on their, request for an over-all average 27 per cent boost. Woodruff said that to meet competition "railroads must continue con-tinue to modernize and adequate earnings are required for such purpose."
