A '.'Spring Music" theme is being' worked out by the committee com-mittee which is headed by Claude Roberts,, stake M Men president, Leo Ferre, vice president, and Kent Christensen, secretary - and treasurer, and Miss Annie Richardson, Rich-ardson, Gleaner president; Miss Marie Roberts, vice president; Miss Maxine Peay, secretary and treasurer and Miss Bernice Shuler, historian. . Claude Roberts will act as toastmaster and Leo Ferre, master of ceremonies. Spanish Fork SPANISH FORK The home of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Knudsen was the scene of a lovely guest evening held by the Delta Thai club with Mrs. Renee Cope as co-hostess. The group gathered at 8 p. m. and the following program, pro-gram, was given with Mrs. Cope in charge. Community singing under un-der the directibn of Coleen Hansen Han-sen and Norma Jean Knudsen; salute to the flag, led by Joyce Isaac; club collect given by Dor othy Shippee. Minutes were read by Merla Swenson. A review of the book, "A Lantern in her Hand," was given by Maurine Snell. The remainder of the evening eve-ning was spent in social conversation conver-sation and tasty refreshments were served to IS club members and the following guests: Mrs. Isaac Taylor, Mrs. Allen S. Bow-en, Bow-en, Mrs. Dean Smith, Mrs. Joe Creer, Mrs. Leon Bellows, Mrs. Harold Johnson, and Misses Maurine Snell, Lucile Livingstone, Living-stone, Betty Mae Isaac, Gertrude Williams and Phyllis Boyack. Spring flowers added a decor ative note. Mrs. Jane Jones was hostess to the members of the Ladies' Literary Liter-ary club at her home. President Dora Stewart conducted the meet ing. The salute to the flag was led by EUen Christensen and the club prayer was led by Electa Jensen. Cora Clegg led the com munity singing. A discussion of the following projects was led by President Stewart: Youth Con servation, Cancer control and dis trict convention. The program for the afternoon was directed by Mrs. Hazel N. Thomas and the following numbers were given: Accordian music. Gene and Kent La r sen: dramatic reading, Colleen McKell: and June Hughes. Mrs. Nelda Chrisiensen accompanied by Thelma McKell sang vocal solos. Miss Barbara Butenoff furnished fur-nished piano selections. Mrs. Jones was assisted in serving by her daughters, Mrs. Hazel Taylor and Mrs. Gladys Becker. Mrs. Jack Henline and little son Steven have spent the week with her parents, Mr. - and Mrs. Ellis Fuller. Their home is at Tooele. A five-horse-power tractor, re cently exhibited at the Cleveland Home and Flower show, has almost al-most as many attachments as a modern vacuum cleaner. "Breck" Fagin and children, Rebecca and James Breckenridge ,Fagin. A newcomer to Provo, Mrs. B. L. "Breck" Fagin, is already al-ready getting that 'at home feeling. Mrs. Fagin and the youngsters, young-sters, Rebecca, 3, and five-month-old James Breckenridge Brecken-ridge Fagin, recently arrived from Twin Falls, Idaho, to join Mr. Fagin, newly appointed ap-pointed Provo city manager of the Intermountain theaters Paramount, Uinta and Strand. He has been here since the middle of March. The Fagins have taken the house at 990 East D street, and greatly anticipate becoming becom-ing part of Provo's 'family.' A theater romance which culminated in marriage for LuclUe Blackburn of Grand Island, Nebraska, was a cashier cash-ier in the Capitol theater in her home city, when "Breck" Fagin came from his home in Kansas City, Mo., to manage the theater. That was in 1937. They were married not long afterwards and after six months, went to Kansas ' City, and then to Twin Falls, where they have made their' home for the past seven years. Mr. Fagin has been in the theater business since 1928, becoming manager only two years after ushering in a Kansas City theater. He has managed and owned theaters all over the southwest and west and since 1932, has been associated with Paramount. Home and family are Lucille Lu-cille Fagin's main interest, but she loves a good time and nothing delights her more than a stiff game of bridge. An ardent reader, she has gathered about her quite a library. During wartime, she busied herself with Red Cross work, while her husband served as chairman of the war finance committee for Twin Falls county, and was chairman of the airport commission. Pay son PAYSON Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bates and little daughter Rowena are here from Dallas, Texas, on a two weeks' vacation trip, and will visit with relatives and friends. They are house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis A. Bates. Walter is now stationed in Dallas with the Eighth service command headquarters, head-quarters, and his work as a sanitation sani-tation engineer takes him to the various camps under the Eighth service command, principally as inspector of water supplies. Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Bartholo- navy. They visited here with Mr. and Mrs. L. Roy Barnett. Mrs. Madge Christensen was hostess to the ladies of her sewing club at her home. Mrs. Ilia Toronto To-ronto of Spanish Fork was a special guest. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Coray and daughters, Coleen. and Diana, and Lt. and Mrs. Gene Coray visited in Logan with Max Coray, who is attending school at U S A C. They were dinner guests of Mrs. Nellie P. Hansen. Mrs. LeRoy Gale entertained the ladies of her 500 club at her home. Mrs. Walter Wyler was a special guest. Luncheon was followed fol-lowed with cards. Couple Leave For Alaska Hr. and Mrs, Garth Berean (Elva C Dean) who were married during quiet ceremonies in Provo Pro-vo Saturday, left immediately for Ketchikan, Alaska, where they will make their home. Mrs. Berean is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Crosbie of Provo, and Mr. Berean. a son of Mr. and Mrs.. William H. Burch, also of this city. Mr. Berean is in the commercial fishing business in Ketchikan. Mrs. Donetta Baker reviewed the book, "Temples of Zion," after which a social hour was en joyed and refreshments served. Mrs. Lois Christensen reviewed the book "Dragon Harvest" by Upton Sinclair, and discussion of France followed. Mrs. Clarke presided over the business meeting at which plans for the next two months were presented and dues levied. Dean Conder, English Bride Complimented At Open House The home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Conder was the scene of much informal festivity Saturday evening, when more than 100 friends called to welcome home from England, their son, Dean E. Conder, and his charming English bride the former Eileen Banks. The young couple struck up a romance while Dean, then a captain in the U. S. army, was stationed in England. Eng-land. They were married Aug. 23, 1945, at Stoke-On-Trent, home of the bride, and Captl Conder left for the states the'Conders greeted the many guests. wno were served during the evening eve-ning by Mrs. Bee Ellison, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Maude H.
